VG defeat ESC for third at Mad Catz

VeryGames has overcome ESC Gaming in the third place decider match at Mad Catz CS:GO Invitational with a score of 2-1 (16-6 de_inferno_se, 13-16 de_dust2_se, 16-7 de_mirage_csgo).

The third place decider couldn't have started worse for ESC who found themselves in the hole for 0-8 as counter-terrorists on de_inferno_se. They won the next two, but VG repeated the same feat, making it 2-10.

A late comeback gave ESC some hope as they won two more rounds as well as the terrorist side pistol round, but VeryGames were able to pull through a third round win, gaining momentum.

Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas and Jakub "kuben" Gurczynski were close to winning a two-on-two to keep ESC in the game, but in the end VeryGames were too strong for the Poles on the first map, winning 16-6.

ESC started de_dust2_se by losing the first five rounds as well, but a middle to B attack gave them their opening round, followed up by a successful attack towards catwalk, making it 2-5.

The Poles won the next round as well, but Mariusz "Loord" Cybulski ran out of time on his one-on-three attempt, and VG ran their lead up to 7-3. ESC snuck back into the game though, winning four straight before Kenny "kennyS" Schrub took a one-on-one home on the last round.

NBK played well for VeryGames throughout the tournament

Second half pistol round saw Jarosław "pasha" Jarząbkowski pick up two P2000 kills to win ESC the round, and strong play from across the board all of a sudden had the Polish side up 5-0, or 12-8.

Filip "NEO" Kubski's side clinched thirteen rounds before VeryGames could score again, but the Poles never fully took their foot off the pedal again, securing a 16-10 victory on the second map and forcing a third map to decide the series.

Unfortunately the third map wouldn't live up to the expectations set earlier in the series, as network cables being unplugged delayed the match for over half an hour and VG were simply too dominant for ESC.

The Frenchmen were up 3-0 prior to the break, and although ESC Gaming had a handful of close rounds that could have swung the score their way, they were unable to close them, and found themselves trailing 3-12 half.

ESC won the pistol round and fought back for a few rounds, including Wojtas' almost successful one-on-four attempt, but Adil "ScreaM" Benrlitom's four M4A4 headshots and solid teamplay on the following round clinched VeryGames the third place in Vienna.

yeah well a lot say NiP began earlyer but verygames was close to them when they began on cs go and the game had many updates too for recoil etc... So i am beginning to think NiP is really good actually at their job. Still you can see that some teams are improving and some others went down. It's true they have an advantage but it is getting smaller and smaller now.

Hahahahaha 1.6 getting dominated by two source teams, how does it feel you mad noobs? You mad Anexis and VG beat your "Golden" 5 and NaVi who played 12 hours a day for 3 months straight??? Suckers. 12 of the top 15 players in this tournament are from Source, Source players > talentless 1.6ers.

Source players > talentless 1.6ers if you would have played 1.6 you would know the difference. I did play both css and 1.6 and 1.6 was by far more competive. yet css is a nice game and also easier to kill(shoot heads) compared to 1.6 NaVi showed huge potential and they can only get better. ESC? I think not.

yes navi have huge potential, but teams like verygames arent even close to the level that they are gonna become, when ex6tnz, smithz and nbk get to the level that they were in css, vg are gonna dominate.

Imo CSGO is easier compared to 1.6, never played css but I heard some stories from my teammates.if my opinion is true, the 1.6ers have to become better then they were in 1.6. That being sad, csgo is imo alot more "noob friendly" then 1.6 was, which means everyone can kill anyone with that silly spray and run (what still is do-able imo). As a conclusion I think the potential of alot of players is limited in csgo, mainly due to the limited and silly movement. And you cant deny that especially movement was the diciding factor as for being a good or a top player in 1.6. When csgo movement gets updated ,if it ever will for that matter, you will see some players rise above others.

The best fact: Saucers like CS:GO, most 1.6ers dont. Compare how many source teams that started to play CSGO, with how many 1.6 teams that started to play CSGO

That doesn't make a difference, source scene had no more tournaments left by the time CSGO was released whilst 1.6 had a couple left to run. Considering former 1.6 players are in the top end of the scene along with former source players means its much better for the future, having a divided scene was silly.

Yeah I agree, I'm just saying you cant debate that CSS > 1.6 players, if most 1.6 players quit when the game died. Theyre all playing CSGO, who cares where they came from

Yep I agree dude. To be honest the debates should die down by next year. But the future looks promising, especially with Na'Vi looking as strong as they did this event. Skipping StarLadder and other events perhaps was the correct choice because they could analyse team tactics and prepare better!

GG wp we will see at cph games who is the best team (after nip ofc). This event had huge delays, some teams like esc were unlucky because they had to play all day with 4hrs of sleep etc. So we keep the highlights and some individual performances and we will see at the next one

Great to see the surprise of Anexis make the final, considering those players know how hard it was to beat VG in Source, they now have a mental edge, if only they can get that edge over NiP we may see someone finally topple them. In regards to ESC, it was unfortunate. Maybe next time! Oh and can people stop saying source owns 1.6 and vice versa. Both sets of top players are now united in one game and we have a unique chance to drop those silly debates now and progress the scene.
