LDLC White, Awsomniac to DH Tours

Two French teams, LDLC White and Awsomniac, fought their way through the DreamHack Tours BYOC Qualifier and will now join the six other teams waiting in the main group stage.

The BYOC Qualifier for the $40,000 DreamHack Tours tournament offered up two spots to the main eight-team event, with one team going into each group respectively. Most of the teams present were French ones, including both LDLC squads, Awsomniac, melty, beGenius and more.

The most prominent team from outside of France were the Australians of Immunity, who confirmed their attendance at this BYOC among a string of other tournament attendances during their sojourn in Europe.

LDLC White qualify for DH Tours (the team's core seen here defeating NiP as team Platinium at ESWC 2014)

Unfortunately for Immunity however, their shot at qualifying for the main tournament ended after losing in the upper bracket to eventual qualifiers Awsomniac 14-16 on de_inferno, and then losing in the lower bracket semi-finals to beGenius 12-16 on de_mirage.

The first team to qualify for DH Tours were LDLC White, who defeated organisational accomplices LDLC Blue in the upper bracket final 16-8 on de_cbble. LDLC Blue dropped down into the consolidation final where they awaited a contender, and were in turn defeated by a red-hot Awsomniac, who claimed revenge after losing to Blue in the upper bracket semis.

With these results, the DreamHack Tours groups now appear as follows:

Group A Group B
Sweden fnatic France EnVyUs
Denmark dignitas Null element HellRaisers
Ukraine FlipSid3 Tactics France Titan
France LDLC White / Awsomniac France LDLC White / Awsomniac

The winner of the best-of-three seeding match to be played out at 10:00 will be placed in Group B while the loser will be placed in Group A. LDLC White have a one map advantage going into the seeding match.

With group stage matches kicking off at 13:30 , be sure to pay attention to our matches panel for up-to-date scores and matches.

They did. Read the article, they lost in the upper and lower brackets in qualifying and were therefore eliminated.

Awsomniac won against : Immunity, Melty, BeGenius and LDLC Blue. 3 top 6 french teams and a good foreign team. Incredible performance, even if only on BO1.

It's gonna be tough for whoever's sorry souls end up in group B, but both LDLC and Awesomaniac have a shot at the second spot in group A, especially considering the form Flipside's been in lately.

Moron, it's 1 tournament and BO1. Anyone that knows anything about CS knows that BO1s aren't a great way to gauge skill.

Based on observation, I'd cut apEX, and (maybe) RpK. RpK is too far behind the meta imo and being 1 and a half years behind everyone is pretty bad. But he could arguably help with his experience. As a strategic team, apEX isn't going to cut it on CT side of his aim isn't on point. He isn't a smart player and keeps being caught out in weird positions. Unless he goes balls to the wall every game, he isn't going to be a good contribution. Ex6 is too valuable as a strategist, kenny too valuable as a consistent aim star, and maniac is a smart player and sort of consistent, hovering around 3rd or 4th in the team.
