Counter Pit League Season 2 FinalsNRG upset EnVyUs
NRG defeat EnVyUs 2-1 (16-13 on de_dust2, 3-16 on de_cbble, and 22-19 on de_mirage) and become the fourth and final team to advance to the semifinals of the Counter Pit Season 2 finals in Split, Croatia.
Both teams in the fourth quarter-final of the Counter Pit Season 2 finals came into the event with a debut in their respective ways, with Envy playing with their new addition Timothée "DEVIL" Démolon whereas NRG were having their first ever offline event as a team, albeit with Johannes "tabseN" Wodarz of PENTA playing as a stand-in for Peter "ptr" Gurney.
And de_dust2 was the Null element show as the German stand-in racked up over 30 kills on the map in a memorable performance that would eventually see NRG win the map 16-13.
just9n had a crucial performance on de_mirage
The first half saw a generally stronger performance from EnVyUs with Nathan "NBK-" Schmitt standing out as the French team's strongman and Dan "apEX" Madesclaire helping out with an all important first pistolround 3K; nV finished the first half up 10-5.
The second half however was one where NRG began to claw their way back and included NBK- and Vincent "Happy" Schopenhauer winning an eco round to move the score to 13-12 and seemingly ending NRG's momentum, only to be eco'ed in turn. In the end, Fatih "gob b" Dayik and his teammates won the map 16-13.
de_cbble was a completely one-sided game as Kenny "kennyS" Schrub powered his team forward to a 16-3 win on the map and thereby forced the third map.
tabseN shone as NRG's stand-in
The third map was de_mirage and the first half saw a well prepared NRG pick up seven rounds on their T-half, which included several bombsite fakes that showcased gob b's tactical prowess.
The second half's pistolround saw DEVIL pull off a pistol ace and the French team generally stayed ahead in the series, although Justin "just9n" Ortiz had a welter of impressive holds on the A-site for his team.
Despite EnVyUs running ahead to a 15-12 scoreline, Nikola "LEGIJA" Ninić and co. held their defensive line and brought the match into overtime. The first half of overtime saw one of the most intense moments in the match when Samuel "SileNt" Portillo pulled off a one-versus-four in a matter of seconds to give NRG a round.
With NRG taking the first half 17-16, EnVyUs showed solid defense in kind and took match point, however a forcebuy B-site take by NRG and a 2K by just9n brought the game into second overtime.
Second overtime was finally the arena where NRG pulled ahead on both sides and won the map 22-19, creating the first shock result of the tournament and advancing to the semifinals.
