Virtus.pro decline Premier spot

ESEA has announced that Virtus.pro have relinquished their spot in the Premier division.

The Polish giants were due to play in ESEA Premier, one tier below the ESL Pro League, after a disastrous season that culminated with a 1-2 defeat to PENTA Sports in the relegation match.

The decision could have to do with the fact that ESEA Season 22 has no ties to season 4 of the Pro League, which will start later this year. The teams competing in the Premier division will only play for spots at the ESEA Global Challenge Finals.

Virtus.pro to skip ESEA Premier

According to ESEA Product Manager Brett Sheffield, Virtus.pro will be back for Season 23 to fight for a place in the Pro League, which recently expanded from 12 to 14 teams.

Swedish team ggrabb, who were due to be demoted to the Main division, will take Virtus.pro's spot in ESEA Premier, which will feature the following 17 teams:

ENCE eSports is a Finnish multigaming organization whose primary aim is to make the Finnish eSports scene more professional and consistent. ENCE eSports was first founded in April 2013 by Petri "Procyon" Hämälä of Peliliiga, Toni "Chibulis" Jarkima, formerly of eXelon Gaming and Teemu "wabbit" Hiilinen of SEUL. After a number of cryptic tweets from various notable members of the Finnish esports community, most notably one by suNny, featuring him making a thumbs up in front of a contract with ENCE's logo, on January the organization formally announced their return on their website. As frequently rumored, the team was confirmed to feature allu plus the consistent MIXCAT quartet of suNny, xartE, Juhob and stonde.

They have always been terrible online - we now only see it more and more as there is a ton of leagues which require online qualifications. ELeague and Cologne will definitely be their chance to show their true colors.

They simply need roster changes, their lineup can be adjusted and improved to make them a better online team

They are at that point where Cloud9 was months ago (before the 3 consecutive finals and epic performances against EnvyUs). The point where they just play for the wage they receive from the contracts and sponsors. I have a friend that defends the team to the end, but I haven't really seen them win anything big, except that Katowice in 2014. I think they should really consider retiring if they don't at least get to the semifinals on Cologne. Sure, online tournaments kind of fuck you because you have to play many and many games in a week. This leaves no space for practicing and resting well from the game. Here is where I say it would be interesting to see that HUGE tournament idea (like The International) that was proposed by ESL. Teams would have more time to really improve and clean themselves for a really big price.
