CLG, Echo Fox, OpTic to playoffs

CLG secured second place in Group A over NRG, while Echo Fox and OpTic finished top two in Group B after the re-scheduled matches from yesterday took place.

Yesterday's delays forced the Northern Arena organizers to re-schedule the last series of groups A and B to day two of the tournament. NRG faced CLG in a re-match of the first round for second place in Group A. The former picked Cobblestone to kick off the series.

Stephen "reltuC" Cutler stepping up with an all-headshot USP-S ace in the pistol round resulted in a forceful reply in the following round from NRG, though CLG took control of the shenanigans right afterwards and went on to grab a 6-1 lead as CT.

With the German duo Johannes "tabseN" Wodarz and Fatih "gob b" Dayik putting in most of the frags, NRG stopped the streak and started their own, only letting one more round slip away for an 8-7 half.

reltuC led the way as CLG came back to win Cobblestone

The other half was mostly going in favor of the favored NRG side, who soon got to a 14-9 lead, but CLG then put up a formidable offense, winning all seven remaining rounds for a 16-14 win on the first map.

On Overpass, CLG got a solid eight rounds as Terrorists but quickly dropped the lead as NRG won the second pistol and the first gunround, reaching a 15-10 scoreline. reltuC's new roster was able to delay for three more rounds, but eventually fell as the series went to a third map at 16-13.

Mirage was left as the decider with CLG starting on the defence. One of the newcomers, Ethan "Ethan" Arnold, led the scoreboard as he and his team fended off most attacks, only losing five rounds in the half.

After losing the next pistol, they quickly gained back the foothold, replying in the first gunround for 13-7. After a couple of lost gunrounds, Yassine "Subroza" Taoufik pitched in during the following forcebuy and CLG emerged victorious soon afterwards at 16-9, securing second place in Group A.

In Group B's round-robin's last match, TSM were fighting for survival, while Echo Fox had less pressure on their shoulders as they had won their previous match 2-0.

The first half of Dust2 went smoothly for Ryan "freakazoid" Abadir and company, who took 11 rounds on the CT side. On the back of Skyler "Relyks" Weaver's quad kill, TSM put in a solid defence of their own, but it wasn't enough in the end as Echo Fox won the close encounter in the last round of regulation.

Echo Fox secured first place in Group B

The tides turned on map two, Mirage, where TSM put up 10 rounds on the Terrorist side as their newest addition Relyks continued with a great performance.

Once they won the second pistol round as well, gaining a seven-round lead, it was Echo Fox that time who started coming back, slowly but surely. Letting two rounds slip in the process, Sean "seang@res" Gares's squad made it an even 14-14. With two doubles from Hunter "SicK" Mims, TSM managed to even out the series after another 16-14 affair however.

The series came down to Nuke, where Echo Fox battled their way to nine rounds on the offence, also thanks to Ronnie "ryx" Bylicki who led the charge and won an important 1v3 clutch in the process. ryx continued to display his skillset on the second half alongside Shahzeb "ShahZaM" Khan, securing the series at 16-9, 2-1.

Winning both series in Group B, Echo Fox finished in first place with OpTic trailing in second thanks to their win over TSM.

As Groups A and B have finally come to a close, the action in Toronto will return to the other two groups, specifically Group D's winners' match featuring HEROIC versus Selfless and the elimination series between Winterfox and Splyce.

Everyone complained when Exho Fox got the pro league spot over TSM, now look at these results, perhaps they are the better team.
