IFNG cancelled after school shooting

The second Intel Friday Night Game of this season of the German EPS has been cancelled.

The event was suppose to take place this Friday in Stuttgart, but following the tragic school shooting the city has not allowed ESL to hold the event in the hall owned by the city of Stuttgart.

With such short notice it is unlikely that the ESL will have a chance to move the event elsewhere.

This again adds fuel to the debate whether games can really be connected to tragedies like the one we saw in Germany. What is the possibility of a soccer match being cancelled following a school shooting? It seems like a slippery slope to assume games was involved, and even more odd to take it all the way to esport. It also asks the question whether politicians should really interfere on this level.

The matches planned for this IFNG event was hoorai.Xilence vs Team SPEED-LINK in CS:S, XlorD vs iNSoLeNCE in WC3 and TBH.MSI vs You Don't Know Me in CS 1.6. It is currently unclear when these matches will be played. ESL states that more information will follow tomorrow, so stay tuned.

haha, good shooting retard, that german kid was 17 and he murdered many people inclueding himself in the end, pretty retarded if you ask me =) Mental problems or something but it's even lamer that the first thing the media blame it on is Counter-Strike and violence in games, just too make a big case out of it

But then again I wouldn't like to have a bounch of people that played a violent game gathered in the same town just a week after something like that happened. Wouldn't look so good for the town either

voilent games have nothing to do with it... its just an excuse because that boy was getting picked on alot that dumb fuck...it said so on the news over here that he said he was tired of getting laughed with all the time... if counter-strike or any other violent game had something to do with schoolboys shooting other ppl in real life, there would be miljons of kids shooting people dont you think :)) just my 2 cents... peace out

They did not cancel Champions League matches after, was is September 11th? I would partly understand if IFNG would be some kind of paintball competition where the only matter that count is that of killing the opponents, but seeking to identify CS games, even WC3!, with the school shooting or these games as the shooter's inspiration.....come on! If they want a 100% proof inspiration it is that of our genes that make us kill each other if we get or are crazy enough. Will they, knowing this, take care of us all just like they did with Lecter and his muzzle? As usual, politicians creating problems where there are any and wanting to solve them, poorly of course, afterwards meaning to save us from ourselves.

your so right jonathan, ive played games with lots of violence in them for many years, and im not planning to kill my family or other people... in chief gaming magazine over here there was an article about violent games, to make it short it said that gamers play games with violence for the challenge or fun not for the violence it self.

Games don't make anyone go mentally sick, but I think that they are not good for already sick people.

Its all about pscicology. He certainly had problems in socialization maybe or something. Then he started to play more and more. And reached a point where he was tired of everything. Solution? Kill. I think its not difficult to prevent this kind of violence, teachers should pay more attention to theirs students and see if is something wrong with theirs attitudes.
