GALLERIA GM to host Japanese qualifiers for eXTREMESLAND and IESF

GALLERIA GAMEMASTER has revealed the initial details for the upcoming Japanese qualifiers for eXTREMESLAND and IESF World Championship 2018.

The Japanese tournament organizer will run the local eXTREMESLAND qualifiers for the second year in a row and will collaborate with JESU (Japan Esports Union) to send a team to the IESF World Championship in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

The GALLERIA GAMEMASTER Cup 2018 will feature four open online qualifiers, utilizing a BO1 single-elimination format. The winners of each open qualifier will advance to the four-team LAN finals, featuring a BO3 single-elimination format. It will be held at the largest esports facility in Tokyo, Japan: LFS Ikebukuro Esports Arena.

GALLERIA GM will send a Japanese CS:GO team to 2 international events

Below are the key dates mentioned in the announcement for the upcoming qualifiers:

Open Qualifier #1 - August 25
Open Qualifier #2 - August 26
Open Qualifier #3 - September 1
Open Qualifier #4 - September 2

LAN Finals
Semi-finals - September 29
Grand final - September 30

Two international spots will be up for grabs along with a lion's share of ~$13,500 prize fund. The prize distribution is the following:

1. 1,000,000 JPY (~$9,000) + eXTREMESLAND Asia Finals spot + IESF World Championship spot
2. 300,000 JPY (~$2,700)
3-4. 100,000 JPY (~$900)
3-4. 100,000 JPY (~$900)

In addition, the runner-up and 3-4th placed teams will be invited to attend eXTREMESLAND 2018 Asia Finals from October 18-21 in Shanghai, China as spectators.

Currently ranked 64th worldwide and fifth on our Asian regional rankings, SCARZ Absolute will have more opportunities to put Japan on the CS:GO map, following an unexpected fourth-place showing at the recent Asia Minor. More information about the qualifiers can be found here.

I think it's because as the SCARZ guys said on a recent interview, CSGO Japanese events only happen at most twice a year, which means there aren't many chances for Japanese teams to showcase themselves to the world, which means they don't really get the chances bigger or better known countries with bigger/stronger csgo communities such as the US, France, Denmark, Sweden, or even Australia/New Zealand, get. This event is a good chance to catch the eye of the CSGO community as a whole, which is why HLTV reported it. (Also like gaydogg0_ said, it's news so they report it LOL) Good luck to ScarZ, Ignis and any other Japanese teams trying to make a name for themselves, hopefully the Japanese scene and following will grow and the opportunities for said teams to prove their worth to us all will increase along with it. Long reply LOL
