jR, tonyblack shine as Vega Squadron ease past Cloud9

Vega Squadron continue their impressive run at the FACEIT Major following a comprehensive 16-4 victory over Cloud9 on Mirage in the first round of the New Legends stage.

The final match of the day in London kicked off with a great CT pistol by Vega Squadron, who retook the A site with frags from Dmytro "⁠jR⁠" Chervak and Pavel "⁠hutji⁠" Lashkov. A third-round buy from Cloud9 failed to pay dividends and set them back even further, and their first gun round win shortly afterwards was immediately reset by the Russian side.

It was only in the eighth round that Cloud9 finally put their foot down, stringing two rounds together to halt Vega Squadron's momentum. But the Russians refused to ease off the gas and won the remaining rounds to make it a 12-3 half.

Vega Squadron end day one with a convincing win

Now playing on the CT side, Cloud9 denied Anton "⁠tonyblack⁠" Kolesnikov the ace in the pistol round to keep themselves in the game. But their hopes were immediately crushed: Vega Squadron responded with a successful force buy and took control of the economy, locking down the map without losing any more rounds.
