Budapest Five go official

A new Hungarian team, called Budapest Five, has officially come to life, featuring some of the best players in the country.

Budapest Five claim to be the first professional esports brand in Hungary, with private investor backing the project and a management team supporting the squad as the organisation look to put Hungarian esports on the map.

Headlined by Viktor "⁠flashie⁠" Tamás Bea, who is mostly known for helping PixelFire to a runner-up finish at the Europe Minor leading to MLG Columbus, the team have been practicing since October and will be making their first official appearance later on Monday, in ESEA Advanced.

All players have signed contracts with the organisation running until the end of 2019 with the option to extend the deals by a further year.

The announcement comes at a particularly exciting time for Hungarian esports as the country will host its biggest national league ever, with almost $13,000 in prize money and organised by the same people who were behind last year's V4 Future Sports Festival.

"We are starting this very exciting project with these amazing players who are given a chance to prove that they are capable of grinding into the international top scene," team manager Lejla Bako said in a statement.

"Looking forward to what this full year brings and how much we can impact hungarian esports in general."

Budapest Five, who will attend Copenhagen Games in April, have the following roster:
