Liquid secure ESL Pro League playoff spot
TeamOne will go into the final day of play in Group D looking for their first victory.
Liquid have secured a spot in the ESL Pro League playoffs after defeating TeamOne. With this win the North Americans have become the first team from Group D to secure a berth in the playoffs despite being only the second team to hit 9 points ahead of their final group stage match against FURIA.
In an interview after the match, Jake "Stewie2K" Yip talked about how Liquid have been showing promise with Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo taking over the leadership role again, giving some insight into the new dynamic. "At first, when FalleN came in I wanted to help," the 23-year-old said, "I’m always saying things naturally on-the-fly and trying to say my side.
"This time around I still see a lot of differences, I’ll see FalleN call something but even if I think differently I don’t voice it and let it pan out and see what happens instead of giving my side."
TeamOne on the other hand remain without a win in the round robin stage and were already unable to fight for playoff contention before going into the match against Liquid. Pedro "Maluk3" Campos and his men will have one last chance to avoid the 0-5 club alongside Bad News Bears, Evil Geniuses and G2 when they go up against Entropiq in their final ESL Pro League series this season.

It didn’t take long for Liquid to take the lead on Mirage despite starting out 0-3 after losing the first pistol round of the series, as they tied things up by the sixth round and continued to plow their way through the half, giving up just one round before the switch, leading 11-4.
TeamOne took the second pistol round of the map, but were unable to stop Liquid’s second round forcebuy, after which Michael "Grim" Wince and company ramped up the pace. The Brazilian squad put up a final defense to somewhat bridge the gap, but the map ended 16-8.
The first three rounds on Inferno were a scrappy back-and-forth, but it was once again Liquid who showed their superiority despite the early chaos. TeamOne didn’t falter this time around, however, and made a close half of it, getting to within one before going on the attacking side.
TeamOne took the lead for the first time since the start of the map after bagging the three first rounds of the second half, but once again Liquid stabilized in the buy rounds and were able to remain in comfortable control giving up just one of the final nine rounds of play to wrap the series up 16-11.
