Liquid secure ESL Pro League playoff spot

TeamOne will go into the final day of play in Group D looking for their first victory.

Liquid have secured a spot in the ESL Pro League playoffs after defeating TeamOne. With this win the North Americans have become the first team from Group D to secure a berth in the playoffs despite being only the second team to hit 9 points ahead of their final group stage match against FURIA.

In an interview after the match, Jake "Stewie2K" Yip talked about how Liquid have been showing promise with Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo taking over the leadership role again, giving some insight into the new dynamic. "At first, when FalleN came in I wanted to help," the 23-year-old said, "I’m always saying things naturally on-the-fly and trying to say my side.

"This time around I still see a lot of differences, I’ll see FalleN call something but even if I think differently I don’t voice it and let it pan out and see what happens instead of giving my side."

TeamOne on the other hand remain without a win in the round robin stage and were already unable to fight for playoff contention before going into the match against Liquid. Pedro "Maluk3" Campos and his men will have one last chance to avoid the 0-5 club alongside Bad News Bears, Evil Geniuses and G2 when they go up against Entropiq in their final ESL Pro League series this season.

Liquid are now fighting for the best possible seed

It didn’t take long for Liquid to take the lead on Mirage despite starting out 0-3 after losing the first pistol round of the series, as they tied things up by the sixth round and continued to plow their way through the half, giving up just one round before the switch, leading 11-4.

TeamOne took the second pistol round of the map, but were unable to stop Liquid’s second round forcebuy, after which Michael "Grim" Wince and company ramped up the pace. The Brazilian squad put up a final defense to somewhat bridge the gap, but the map ended 16-8.

The first three rounds on Inferno were a scrappy back-and-forth, but it was once again Liquid who showed their superiority despite the early chaos. TeamOne didn’t falter this time around, however, and made a close half of it, getting to within one before going on the attacking side.

TeamOne took the lead for the first time since the start of the map after bagging the three first rounds of the second half, but once again Liquid stabilized in the buy rounds and were able to remain in comfortable control giving up just one of the final nine rounds of play to wrap the series up 16-11.

If we have a name of the hardest group called: Group of Death What do we call the easiest group? The two good teams in this group is Liquid & Gambit. Can't expect much from Furia given they're using a coach as a stand-in. NIP has been up and down and a consistent inconsistent team.

Group B was the easiest atm. VP not in good shape, Complexity playing without their star rifler and before EPL 14, OG was out in Cologne Play-IN.

Ye, an argument could be made that Group B was the weakest, the biggest upset was that G2 went 0 - 5 in the groups. An unexpected showing by them given how they went 2nd place in Cologne.

Yeah Mate, G2 were looking super strong before break but they went 0-5 in the group which was probably easiest from them to take 5-0 instead. I would not have been big surprised if they went down like in something like Group C, Although never expected 0-5 from them.

NiKo and huNter were fragging out but having Amanek who let's be real is not a world class AWPer and I don't blame him as transitioning from a Rifler to an AWPer is not an easy feat. I know this from personal experience. I think if they get a more consistent AWPer maybe like Smooya? They probably wouldn't have lost the way they did. Jackz was the primary entry of the team and he sets huNter up for success. So, I'll give him some slack since he's playing the bitchiest role in his team.

love smooya. Want him to get picked up by a top team. Also it’s a shame this group wasn’t very competitive when it def could’ve been (FURIA no stand in). FURIA, TL, NIP, and Gambit are all good teams. NIP has been a bit shaky but have also faced tough opponents early on + Liquid is on fire

Yes, Liquid has shown to be a strong force ever since Stewie handed back the IGL role to FalleN. That being said, I think if G2 continues performing the way they do, I think it could be a good thing not that i hate G2, but because they could pick-up Smooya who has played in Tier 1 counter strike before and definitely have played better than Amanek. But we'll see what they do.

they have a chance against all of those teams heroic they beat at iem global challenge(albeit 9 months ago with a diff roster but they can hang with gambit so they can hang with heroic) they just made the gambit game nearly as close as it can be and they match up well against navi historically even if they were better ranked than them

Really? Here is my case: If Entropiq wins vs Gambit and Team one, Entropiq 9 points. If furia wins vs NIP today and beats Liquid by 2-0 , Furia 9 points. Gambit wins vs NIP. Gambit 12 points, NIP 6 points Final standings: Gambit qualifies by 12 points. Liquid, Furia and Entropiq 9 points NIP 6 points Teamone 0 points. 3 way tiebreaker on Liquid, Furia and Entropiq Where H2H map difference will be +0 for all three teams. It will go to H2H round difference.

it will go overall map difference then and Liquid 2-0'ed 3 teams + won 1 map vs Gambit, so they'll have the best difference

1. Points amassed between the tied participants (direct match win > direct match loss) 2. Map difference between the tied participants (3:2 maps > 3:3 maps) 3. Number of map wins between the tied participants (3:3 maps > 2:2 maps) 4. Overall map difference 5. Overall number of map wins 6. Round score difference between the tied participants (23:21 > 23:22) 7. Number of round wins between the tied participants (24:22 > 23:21) 8. Overall round score difference (39:31 > 40:33) 9. Overall number of round wins (40:32 > 39:31) since 1/2/3 are tied, we go to 4 in which Liquid has a MD of +3(3 2-0's, 1 1-2, and 1 0-2) which would be more than both entropiq and furia who would have +2 at max and +2 at max respectively
