groove leaves management position in Gambit to focus on coaching *

After splitting his duties as the coach and sporting director, the 39-year-old is set to focus on standing behind the CS:GO team.

Update: A mistaken reference to MTS was corrected - it is not a state-run company.

Gambit have announced that Konstantin "groove" Pikiner has left his position as the organization's sporting director, a role he had transitioned into in 2018 after leaving his post as the CEO.

According to the statement, the 39-year-old will soon focus solely on coaching after he spent the last year and a half standing behind his CS:GO team all the while fulfilling his role in the management.

"For the last year and a half [groove] has devoted enormous amount of time to coaching and shortly he will focus solely on it," the statement reads. "The organisation has got the experienced sport management team, which will continue operating smoothly."

groove set to focus on coaching the team

The news of the Russian's departure from the director position comes just a little over 24 hours after CIS insider Aleksei "OverDrive" Birukov claimed on Tuesday that Gambit's lineup is currently on sale.

The report followed ESL's decision to ban Gambit from the ongoing ESL Pro League Season 15 due to "ties to the Russian government" and BLAST's pledge not to invite Russia-based teams to their tournaments amid Russia's invasion into Ukraine.

Gambit is owned by MTS, the largest Russian telecommunications provider whose ultimate ownership leads to Vladimir Yevtushenkov, a Russian oligarch named on the 'Putin list.'

The lineup around Vladislav "nafany" Gorshkov was allowed to retain its spot in the Düsseldorf tournament under a neutral name — Players —, but it is unclear whether the ban on Gambit as an organization applied to groove given his now-former position as the sporting director.

they'll be limited to CIS events, or they'll have to cut all ties with any oligarch owned company. until sanctions lift they're done in major international events as an org

+1 And he'd be a goddamn good pickup too, let alone the team itself: The dude has skill as a leader, a talet scout AND as a businessman in the esports scene (with the past half a decade or so as proof), which is a three piece that anybody in the industry'd be willing to have rn. If anything it's the right idea career wise in his case, shit circumstances forcing his hand aside

not by F_1N? He got CIS league invite on faceit thanks to Blade and he started looking for players, all the scouting work in finding suitable players was done exclusively by F_1N.

i wanna know y F1_N has a perma Valve ban......the same reason as hunden ? i saw on liquipedia that it's due to bug abuse

Yes, he was caught using a coach bug multiple times. I think he triggered the camera bug 4 out of 6 times by pure accident, while in the match against AGO he was using the bug intentionally, not sure about se7en. esic.gg/annexure-a-sanction-outcomes.pdf perhaps F_1N could challenge 4 of these cases, as lmbt did, who had 4 cases of using this bug and he successfully challenged the decision of esic and all charges were dropped from him, but F_1N didn't do anything. And in the end F_1N could get away with just Major bans as guerri or RobbaN I don't think he tried to cause this bug intentionally, in the match against ago, he just succumbed to temptation, if you can call it that, but receiving a perma-ban from all Valve events is way too much. Look at the MechanoGun (zoneR) for example, looking at his list I can really tell that he tried to cause this bug intentionally. Also, If i am not mistaken, pita reported this bug on twitter long before the whole ban situation, but no one from Valve listened to him.

wow pretty long story i dont think he intentionally trigger the bug n take advantage of it but he's obviously not a good coach as groove has always been btw hunden deserved it (i dont hate heroic xD) ps everyone knows there r only 4 person working in Valve, none of them is supposed to work on bug reports so it made sense

>MTS, a Russian state-run telecommunications provider, the largest in the country Wtf is that? MTS is owned by not by Russian state, but by private investment company AFK Sistema, which has no tights to Russian state. Is there anyone checking info before posting stuff or it's just this new thing of cancelling all the things somehow connected to Russia? Seems nationalist to me...

It would also be nice if you change the term "oligarch" with "billionaire", for exemple, as I don't think you'd write such a word to describe, say, Mark Zuckerberg, right?

Thanks for the correction, although the given article, in my opinion, cannot be an acceptable source, since it dates back to 2018. There was no news about imposing sanctions (or any plans) against Mr. Yevtushenkov after recent events, which means that his connection with the Russian government even in the eyes of those imposing sanctions seems illusory. But apparently the culture of cancelling forces the TOs to bend under its pressure. That's all in all sad to see(

It’s for my class called Professional selling. The assignment was to choose a service to sell to a company. The service I chose to sell is ESL’s partner or the Louvre Agreement. The reason I chose Gambit is that they are currently the highest rated team not part of the agreement.
