OG to sign degster - Report

The move would result in Mateusz "⁠mantuu⁠" Wilczewski being moved to the bench.

Russian AWPer Abdul "⁠degster⁠" Gasanov is set to join OG according to reports published by 1pv.fr and Dexerto. The 20-year-old impressed in his brief stint with the team back in June at BLAST Premier Spring Final, and now his presence in the squad will be made permanent.

The arrival of the new sniper means that mantuu will be moved to the bench after more than two years on the starting lineup, meaning none of the original OG members from the organization's entry into CS:GO in 2019 will be part of the squad.

degster will join OG on a permanent basis

degster left the starting Spirit lineup shortly after the team's campaign at the PGL Antwerp Major which saw them finish in the top four of the event. The player explained that his decision stemmed from reservations about the organization's desire to relocate its squad to Serbia, while the team also pointed to differences in philosophy.

degster attended BLAST Premier Spring Final with OG as mantuu was ruled out due to illness. The Russian impressed with the European squad in Portugal, accumulating a 1.16 rating during the team's run to the semi-final. In contrast, mantuu currently records a 1.08 rating at LAN in 2022.

The Polish-British AWPer was part of the inaugural OG lineup announced in late 2019 and he initially impressed with his performances in the first few months. Following several changes in the squad in 2022, OG decided that it was time to part ways with the 24-year-old ahead of the summer player break.

cadian has been a tier 1 awper and igler for years now, degster isnt even close. broky peak > degster, and jame is a more veteran AWPer than degster that also IGLs a tier 1 team. The other names I gave are names similar to degster in terms of raw AWP firepower but haven't proven themselves yet. They are all at similar stages in their careers and will be interesting to see who ends up having a better career out of the names I said you can argue are better because they've all won nothing.

I agree, that said, monesy will only continue to improve as well Happy for degster though, he's always been a beast for his teams and OG have a very powerful weapon on their team now. As for mantuu, far too many games where he didn't have the impact an awper should have, or missed some easy shots that cost them the game. He's had more than enough time to transition from young player to solid performer now but he'd still be a player that teams could pickup given his skill ceiling

He had a break due to problem with thumbs, so I wouldn't say that mantuu had that time. It all depends on the playstyle and in my opinion mantuu would be perfect replacement for hades in ENCE, because as I think they need aggressive awper and hades is very passive.

But how is degster not a tier 1 player when he plays all the tier 1 tournaments, but mantuu who's not playing almost any of those tournaments is a tier 1 player? OG didn't even qualify for the last 2 majors, degstet did and he played in semi final in one of those. Only tier 1 tourneys I see OG playing lately is blast and that's because they are partnered with blast. Degster has way more tier 1 experience and has better stats as well so your statement makes no sense

MOUZ, ENCE, Sprout are what comes to mind in Top20. I don't think other European/International teams require a new AWPer. mantuu used to be a rifler before joining OG. He can join other teams even as a rifler (and secondary AWPer) if teams need/want one. I think he's a Top10 AWPer that have the unfortunate luck of having inconsistent teammates.

Honestly I feel bad for Spirit. They had something scary brewing with Chopper at the helm - but Degster was a key part of that. So now I think they're back to being not a contender for anything. I think Mantuu would defo be an upgrade for Ence though.
