Heroic eliminate Falcons from Gamers8

The Danes will take on GamerLegion next in the quarter-finals.

HEROIC have started their Gamers8 campaign in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia off on the right foot after seeing to the elimination of Falcons in a 2-0 series, recovering from a slow start on the European combine's Mirage pick to snag victory in double overtime (22-18) before showing much better form on Nuke (16-10).

Casper "⁠cadiaN⁠" Møller's side have had just over two weeks to reflect on their early elimination from IEM Cologne, where they faltered in the quarter-finals to their countrymen from Astralis.

They were required to hit the ground running at Gamers8 given the brutal single-elimination format, and though they struggled early on in the series, they still managed to secure victory in two maps despite the No. 104-ranked Falcons playing up to a much better level than was expected of them.

HEROIC will next face GamerLegion in the quarter-finals on Friday at 13:00 .

Falcons got off to a strong start on their Mirage pick, racing ahead to an 8-2 lead thanks to strong entry work from Mohammad "⁠BOROS⁠" Malhas and multi-kill rounds from Nathan "⁠NBK-⁠" Schmitt. The European combine couldn't maintain that substantial of a lead, however, and HEROIC managed to bring the deficit down to three rounds at halftime.

Falcons continued to perform in the second half, helped by a quad kill round from Miłosz "⁠mhL⁠" Knasiak, and even reached map point first at 15-13. They weren't able to convert upon that advantage, though, and HEROIC fought into overtime before eventually claiming victory in a second set of extra rounds.

Nuke was more one-sided as HEROIC mustered a strong offensive half, making up for a few fumbled rounds to Falcons' pistols by pulling ahead at halftime. The second half looked a little more effortless from the Danes, who conceded just three rounds en route to closing out the series with a 16-10 win.
