CS:GO Asia Championships returns with $500,000 Shanghai event

FaZe and G2 are among teams confirmed to attend the tournament taking place in November.

Perfect World held the CAC event in Shanghai in 2018 and 2019

The CS:GO Asia Championships is slated to return with an eight-team $500,000 tournament taking place in Shanghai, China from November 8-12.

The organizers, Perfect World, have also announced they have secured the attendance of G2, ENCE, FaZe, Liquid, and MOUZ. They will be joined by the finalists of next week's Perfect World Arena Premier League S5, which boasts some of the best Asian teams.

Though the tournament features CS:GO in its name, the organizers have told HLTV that it is expected to be held in Counter-Strike 2 if the new game has officially launched by that time.

Perfect World previously held two tournaments with the same name in Shanghai in 2018 and in 2019. The 2023 iteration will mark a return of Counter-Strike to China after the COVID pandemic made hosting large-scale events in the country near-impossible for the past three years.

It will also be a testing ground for Perfect World, who are due to organize the second 2024 Major in Shanghai in partnership with PGL, as HLTV reported last month.

I'd like to see some t2 events with a pool like this one. I know it wouldn't be watched as much as it is with t1 but that would be interesting to see and would develop the scene much better. T1 is getting kinda stale. All the same names over and over again with players already rich af who don't care as much any way. No real excitement most of the time
