Live updates from BLAST Premier Fall grand final
Vitality and FaZe clash on Championship Sunday at the Royal Arena to lay claim on the Fall Final trophy in Copenhagen.
apEX to HLTV on having something to prove after Sydney: I just laughed a lot when I saw people say that ZywOo is not for CS2. We had a tournament at IEM Sydney where we lost everything, we lost Magisk, we lost our coach, and our performance coach. We used to go with nine people to tournaments and we were six, we had only our assistant coach who got sick, the mood, the war happening... It was a pretty shit mood in the team and it was really weird.
I really wanted and I told the guys when we got William, that I wanted to show up instantly at this tournament. I didn't expect to win it, but to show a good face from Vitality. We were really late to CS2 at some point because we didn't work with Magisk that much, so we had to do everything in 10 days, and I'm really happy it worked out.
On getting new players integrated quickly and mezii impact: My approach is to put them in the best condition. It was a bit easier for Shahar than for William. What is amazing with him is his mood, and he helped me a lot in the calls in tight moments, he had good communication. It's a lot of new positions for him, so it's not gonna be easy, maybe we will do adjustments, but I'm really proud of him, what he gave. Winning his first t1 trophy with us, we told him that this badge is coming, I promise it's coming as soon as possible. I didn't expect it at the first tournament, but it's still good.
karrigan post-game to Banks: "I knew at some point we were going to lose. It's part of the game, but we wanted to win here in the Royal Arena. We were close to coming back, but that round is going to haunt us."
On pressure: "When you are playing with a winning streak, there's always pressure. If you're not winning trophies in the last three months everyone calls for your head. We're used to it"
On the veto: "Banning Inferno let us control the veto. It's no secret we haven't practiced much with all the travel, and we haven't played Inferno in a month."
On the roster: "I don't think I'm the right person to ask [if this is the last time we see this five-man roster]. It's part of esports, not knowing what's happening."
1.35 rating, 0.82 KPR, and 1.50 Impact — Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut has arrived in CS2.
James "BanKs" Banks caught up with the winning team on stage:
XTQZZZ: "Before the tournament we said we could finish last or we could win, and we decided to take the best option."
mezii: "Two weeks in the team, this is how they do it in Vitality. The fight from everyone has kept us going in these series. The mentality is something we are going to keep forever."
apEX: "We haven't proved the Danes made a mistake yet, but I'm so proud of the boys. I'm speechless, it's good to finally win in Copenhagen after losing in 2021. This tournament flameZ stepped up. And, guys, who said ZywOo wasn't good on CS2, for fuck's sake!"

mezii before the event: "I would like to win trophies instantly. I think there's a little bit of a joke at the moment within the team that I'm kind of like the one without the badge on HLTV with the trophy. So they're like, 'We have to make sure we get you one', because I think flameZ got his at Gamers8"
He's got his wish...

FaZe's streak ends at 13!
That eco win proves decisive, and it's Vitality, with new boy William "mezii" Merriman and not so new boy Rémy "XTQZZZ" Quoniam, who are victorious in the Royal Arena.
A timeout was called for Vitality to find the magic plan. But, enter Håvard "rain" Nygaard and Helvijs "broky" Saukants.
Vitality are running out of time and have run out of money. Map point seems destined to be FaZe's, unless a hero AK rings out for Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut...
How FaZe needed that! We're in the crunch time where Finn "karrigan" Andersen and company are used to standing tallest.
Both teams are on low money; the next round might decide the tournament.
Just look at the pace Vitality accelerate with after killing Robin "ropz" Kool on ramp.
New boy William "mezii" Merriman has been quiet this series, but this pick could be the most important kill of his career.
