H2k deliver WES Masters protest

H2k Gaming have handed in a protest to the WES Masters Cup admins which could see Evil Geniuses miss out on the final.

The American team earned a spot in the Grand Final after beating H2k 2-1 in the semis, but the Swedish side delivered a protest after the match.

Tyler "Storm" Wood of EG forgot to press tab while taking smoke screenshots, which is believed to be against the rules, though in the tournament rulebook there is nothing on the matter.

Should the admins rule in H2k Gaming's favour, it means Evil Geniuses will most likely get a default loss, and have to play for the third place, while the Swedish side would get a showdown with cbteam in the final.

I like H2K but this is just bitching around.

Tyler's computer crashed during the match and he forgot to start Custodia again. H2k (like every other team in this tournament) agreed to let me play without Custodia cause we couldn't get it to work on my laptop.

I guess that admins will have to make the decision themselves since it is not noted in the rulebook about this matter. But EG is a proffesional team, they would never benefit on smoke especially when they are bootcamping.

For everyone saying "rules are rules" on this - there actually is NOT a rule stating that a match must be forfeited if a player does not have the scoreboard in his screenshot. The WESGG rule page is not extensive on this subject, and the only thing it states is that the WESGG admin assigned to the match is the sole person responsible for deciding each match on a case by case basis. So the whole "rules are rules" argument actually doesn't even apply here. For each match, the admin is allowed to gauge the situation and decide what the appropriate course of action is. Given that Storm had a demo, had a screenshot (without tab), was playing this match from a LAN center, and that H2K had no other proof or indications that he was using any exploit, the admins made the obvious choice. It's a shame that these days, teams still try to get cheap wins instead of just accepting the fact that they've lost a match. Fortunately, the WESGG rules are flexible enough to allow admin discretion on these matters.

if the custodia files are missing, thats rather sad that eg doesnt get an overturn match after alliance had 2 overturns. alliance played from a lan, and they didnt cheat, and they won a match 27-3. it was overturned to 20-10 in the other teams favor, doesnt seem fair that EG doesnt get the same punishment. not that i want EG to get a forfeit, but then they shoulda never overturned alliances matches.
