Vitality join the Intel Grand Slam race

Five teams are currently in contention for the $1 million prize.

Vitality lifting the trophy at IEM Cologne puts them in the IGS race

The Intel Grand Slam pattern has been broken. G2 had won two eligible events out of seven, MOUZ two out of five, FaZe two out of three, and Spirit a single one to create a 'V' shape in the official Intel Grand Slam graphic (which can be seen in the tweet below). But everyone knows that V is for Vitality, the newest team in the running after winning IEM Cologne.

The French organization's incursion into the IGS standings also comes at the best possible moment, as IEM Cologne is an ESL Pro Tour Championship tournament (as are IEM Katowice and ESL-operated Majors). Winning one of these EPT Championships is one of the two requirements, along with winning four tournaments in a 10-tournament window, needed to pick up the $1 million prize.

Vitality joining the fray means that the teams already in the running are one tournament closer to losing their eligibility due to the 10-tournament window rule. G2 have an EPT Championship under their belt from last year's IEM Cologne, but they must win two in a row at ESL Pro League and IEM Rio to complete the gauntlet.

MOUZ have one more chance than G2, but no EPT Championship, and FaZe have one more chance than MOUZ, and also no EPT Championship. Spirit have only one title under their belt and five chances left, and their one title is an EPT Championship earned earlier this year at IEM Katowice.

The IGS race is made up of:

Europe G2 (2 chances remaining)
Europe MOUZ (3 chances remaining)
Europe FaZe (4 chances remaining)
Russia Spirit (5 chances remaining)
Europe Vitality (9 chances remaining)

The next eligible events are:

ESL Pro League Season 20 — September 3-22
IEM Rio 2024 — October 7-13

But the winner would obviously be donk

It is Bad writed if you don't know what's this is! So basically G2 have no ''tries'' left They just need to win 4 Iem events out of 10 that are played in a row and at least one of those wins have to be S tier as Katowice, Köln or Iem major Then team That does That gets 1milon dollars but but G2 for expample Had diffrent team back on 2023 so money goes to org I guess.

It was spelling V that was why the vita won cologne and the pattern was broken

How is Mouz in contention for it? Next 2 tournaments are Rio and EPL, surely there would be something in between that and Kato right?

NO, Rio is the last IEM tourney of 2024. Only Blast events remain before Kato. Mouz still have 3 chances. Baed on Intel there's EPL S20 - IEM Rio - IEM Katowice 25'. This means that if Mouz can win one of EPL or Rio then they can get IGS by winning Kato next year.
