JANO has announced its decision to drop the Counter-Strike roster around Aleksi "⁠allu⁠" Jalli and Slaava "⁠Twista⁠" Räsänen.

The Finnish organization cited "gaming and financial reasons," saying it has not been able to meet its competitive goals or a sustainable way to finance the team.

After being contacted by HLTV, allu shared that it's currently unclear whether the team will stick together going forward. "Time will tell," he said.

The decision follows a series of horrid results, which saw JANO win just 1 in 16 matches since March 28 and drop to 137th place on Valve's global ranking and 185th place on HLTV's ranking as of June 5.

In a statement, the organization stressed that this is "not the end" for JANO in Counter-Strike 2. "There is work ahead to build a more sustainable foundation so we can come back even stronger," the statement reads.

After rebranding from AHJO, JANO came into the public eye in August 2022 with the signing of a team headed by allu and Twista.

The AWPer remained on the ever-changing roster throughout its existence as it mostly competed on the Finnish and international lower-tier scene, most notably winning several local titles in the Elisa series and making an appearance at Elisa Masters Espoo in late 2024.

Several other well-known names from the country have represented the tag in the past three years, such as Lasse "⁠ZOREE⁠" Uronen, Olli "⁠sLowi⁠" Pitkänen, Joonas "⁠doto⁠" Forss and Jani "⁠Aerial⁠" Jussila. The latest roster looked as follows:

Just a straight translation error of the author. Pelilliset is referring to "In game" instead of literally gaming reasons. Better translation would be "team dropped due to in game and financial reasons. It just sounds weird when it's translated in this way.

The translation is poor, the statement essentially says that the decision was done based on poor results and finances. HLTV translated the results part here as "gaming" reasons for whatever reason.

This was always going to happen with the removal of open qualis for majors. No reason to keep going when there's no theoretical way to get into T1 with bad rosters through the major qualis.

National teams are already pretty much dead in tier 1. Within a year or two they will also be dead in tier 2 and 3 (outside a few CIS teams who would rather die than learn English). What Aurora and Astralis and 3DMAX haters don't get is when/if these rosters fail that will be it. There won't be a comeback with a new national squad. It'll just be over and every single team will be a soulless soup of mercenaries of all random nationalities on 6 month contracts barking at each other and flaming teammates in broken English until the end of time. No identity, no synergy, no storylines, no tight-knit friendships. I mean say what you want about Falcons but even they have more synergy and vibes now than certain international rosters that have been together for years (*cough* Navi *cough cough*) which just shows how auraless intl rosters are in general.

I mean it had to end like this, this was terrible in every single aspect, really no bright spots for this team, but I will never forget that they eliminated NIP from some pretty big LAN tournament which was incredibly funny because I believed they played it with xseveN and Aerial who were both retired already, so I guess they created one nice memory :D GL in the future allu, maybe coaching is next for him, or maybe he transitions to a rifling IGL like FalleN, who knows, hope he doesn't just dissappear.
