FURIA head to Chengdu playoffs, Lynn Vision eliminate 3DMAX

FURIA have claimed their fifth playoff berth in a row as they hunt for their third trophy of 2025.

FURIA have earned a spot in the playoffs of IEM Chengdu after moving past G2 2-0 in their upper-bracket semi-final matchup. Elsewhere in the lower bracket, Lynn Vision kept their run on home soil alive after narrowly overcoming 3DMAX in their elimination match.

FURIA will now be vying for a semi-final spot in Group B's upper-bracket final against the winner of MOUZ's match against Vitality, while Lynn Vision face the daunting task of playing the loser of that series in the lower bracket.

FURIA kicked off their series against G2 on the latter's pick of Train, where, despite an early 1-4 deficit on the defense, FURIA managed to take control of the first half after a hero AWP in the hands of Danil "molodoy" Golubenko earned the Brazilians a pivotal round win with an otherwise poor economy.

After their low-buy win, FURIA pieced together a ten-round streak, running away with G2's pick. Nemanja "huNter-" Kovač's men briefly interrupted FURIA's run after the side swap, but FURIA quickly rebounded to lock down Train 13-5.

Overpass proved to be a far closer affair, with G2 rallying back from a dull start to their CT-side to secure a 6-6 tie at halftime. Once on the offense, G2 wrested control of the map, letting just one round slip en route to reaching map point.

Despite their dismal CT-side and lacking individual output from captain Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo, FURIA managed to string together the comeback, winning five rounds straight to punch in overtime. Although G2 managed to find two T-side rounds in overtime, it was not enough to stop FURIA from completing the comeback with a 16-14 win.

Down in the lower bracket, Lynn Vision and 3DMAX began their elimination series on the former's pick of Dust2, where, after a streaky, back-and-forth map, the Chinese side was able to eke out a 16-13 win in overtime.

3DMAX responded in kind on their pick of Inferno, turning a 5-7 deficit in the first half into a 13-7 map victory after stellar showings from Lucas "Lucky" Chastang, Alexandre "bodyy" Pianaro, and Bryan "Maka" Canda fueled a flawless CT-side for the Frenchmen.

After starting off the Train decider with a 1-5 deficit on the offense, Filip "Graviti" Brankovic's men managed to stop the bleeding in the latter stages of the half, narrowing Lynn Vision's lead to just two rounds at the side swap. 3DMAX snagged five of the first six rounds of the second half, looking to close out the series, but round wins from Lynn Vision quickly put the French side in dire economic straits, giving Zhe "Westmelon" Niu's troops room to wrest control of the map 13-10 and send 3DMAX packing.

Let's face the truth, they were never really good or competitive against the top 9 teams above them in hltv ranking. They did not burn themselves, they just play like this, no hate love french cs <3

well their recent results before budapest were very encouraging (especialy in CSAC) but as always they find a way to go down straight after every nice/decent run .. they can't find consistency for more than two weeks.
