WCG announces SEC match-ups

The World Cyber Games organisation has announced the match-ups for the upcoming Samsung European Championship.

Swedish side SK Gaming, who will once again be playing with Jimmy "allen" Allen after he was absent for the past weeks, will lock horns with Czech team eSuba, while The Elder Gods, who have reached the tournament in a controversial manner, have been paired with WCG Denmark runners-up mTw.

The most interesting fixture of the quarter-finals looks to be the one between Finnish heavyweights Power Gaming and French star-studded team Millenium.

The last match will put face to face Online Kingdom, previously known as Lions, and ALTERNATE, who will be playing with ex-mousesports member Christopher "cash" Steen as a stand-in for American Kenyon "KenaN" Temmel.

The 2010 edition of SEC, which will hand out €24,000 in the Counter-Strike tournament, will take place at the International Congress Center in Berlin, Germany, from September 3-5.

It has been announced that the tournament will use a single-elimination system, and it is expected that the matches will be played in a best-of-three mode, though no information of it has yet been released.

Well the matches that are going to end as a victory for a certain team are kinda obvious .. mTw vs TeG - which mTw gonna win, and SK vs eSuba which SK gonna win. Millenium vs Power Gaming can end as a victory for both teams.. they are quite even. ALTERNATE vs Online Kingdom is a strange match since both teams aren't at their best shape so.. I can't really say who's going to win this. GoodlucK :D

It's nice to see that teg is finally famous :)) (a bit of irony for the most dumbasses around here) now, let's make a few things clear. Counter strike is a pc game and it seems that it have a pretty big impact on your lives. Now let's say that any you have ONE chance to reach an important tournament and play against some of the best teams in the world, but for that to happen you have to do just ONE thing. Respect the all known rules without taking in consideration the fair-play. I bet any of you would do the same thing as teg did (cut the "I'm the honest guy on earth" crap - Michael Jackson, may God rest his soul, was an honest man and he may touched a lot of kids in his life). So I think that if we think about the big picture for a minute, we may realize that the real problem is "the all might rules", "the all mighty people who made them" and those greedy bastards from FX organization (not clan). I don't say that teg did the right thing nor I'm jumping in their defence. I'm sayin' that we are just men and have a lot of weaknesses. GL Millenium!

This tournament is a big disappointment for me. It's not just because Esuba have to play against SK, wich I personally think is really unfair against them, but single elimination ? For a tournament as "big" as this one ? So that really sucks. 8 teams and 4 of them can go home after 2 or 3 maps. This is not good for anyone, the fans will see less matches, half of the players will be angry (I think some of them already are) and the whole event will by less atractive. I would really appreciate if the admins consider their decision and change it at least to FDE, when not groups.
