Power Gaming deny DH attendance

Power Gaming have declared to HLTV.org they will not attend DreamHack Winter this week.

The Finnish team had been announced as one of the invited teams for the event, which will take place at the weekend, having even been drawn in Group C, where they would meet x6tence and puta.

Contacted by HLTV.org, the Finnish team have revealed they will not participate in the tournament, though they did not wish to further comment on the issue.

Power Gaming were last seen at the World e-Sports Masters, where they finished in a disappointing 7-8 place, wrapping up just $4,000.

They are currently in third place in their IEM5 European Championship group, with six points from four matches, and a win against n!faculty in their last match will assure them of a place in the relegation stage.

This leaves Group C at DreamHack Winter with just two teams, with the tournament organisation yet to reveal whether a replacement will be found.

Noone is leaving nor are we disbanding. One of our guys just recently lost a close family member and opted against traveling to Sweden at a sad time like this. The team didn´t want to go with a stand-in so we have decided not to attend. Sorry for all those who were looking forward to see us play but with unforseeable circumstanses like this there is not much that can be done :/

That is way u most wait until teams confirm on site their players. Cost of players on dreamteam dont change until they play a game if not wrong or until that opens after closing for the first round of games or groupstage.

Finland and "dedicated players" do not belong in the same sentence. Finnish teams do not last long for some reason. It looks to me like every tournament they enter, they start out really good, but end up bored and just burn out half-way through. So much raw talent in those Finnish teams, yet they don't seem to have the drive or dedication to give it 100% all the time.

And you're right too -- generally speaking. I never understood it myself. There's money up for grabs, yet the guys who already have the experience and the support choose to go in with half-assed preparations, finish without gaining a dime and then disband a week later, only to form a NEW team a week from that with at best one different player. You'd think these guys knew who they want to form a team with, seeing how they've been pretty much playing with/against each other for YEARS in scrims/CB ladder matches before tournaments and such, but apparently not. Might just be the "winning's not important, FAIR PLAY is important" mentality, taught to us since junior leagues, through which Finnish athletes managed to become absolutely mediocre in every sport on the planet. Shit's sad son. (Not talking about this particular case)

"through which Finnish athletes managed to become absolutely mediocre in every sport on the planet" there's an exception, Jari Litmanen was an exceptional player at some point in his career, years in a row he was playing with the best, against the best, and dominating :D <3 Ajax | Litmanen

Yeah, like Teemu Selänne, Saku Koivu, Jari Kurri, Matti Nykänen, Janne Ahonen, Mika Häkkinen, Tero Pitkämäki, Marcus Grönholm, Tommi Mäkinen, Jani Sievinen, Paavo Nurmi, Seppo Räty and others. All USED to be good, or great even. Those days are long gone, and now we're just average in everything. I honestly can't name a single active Finnish athlete who you could call exceptional with a straight face. Well, excluding maybe Hirvonen & M. Koivu, but even they are not as good as, say, Nurmi or Nykänen. Which is freaking sad, even though I usually root for Sweden or Russia just to annoy fellow Finns (national pride is pathetic).

Probably because the other guys take part in icehockey, ski jumping, rally, or track & field (throwing a javelin, rofl), which hardly can be regarded as big sports in the Netherlands, or even worldwide.. Well, traditional athletics are of course done around the globe but eventhough Finland used to have some good long distance runners like he mentioned, nowadays pretty much the only decent ones throw a javelin where there are pretty much the same 10 people competing in every international competition

yeah of course it's good to not only focus on cs but also other things, but it's kinda sad to watch teams like fnatic, sk nowadays. feels like some of the players in those teams (and of course other teams as well) just don't care so much when they play. I want them to be hungry all the time and be emotional when they play, something we don't see very often and this is related to them not taking cs as serious as i would want them to

you have to see it from a professional player's perspective when it comes to drive and desire. playing the same maps, the same players, the same teams, over and over again, there's little to be desired anymore. 99% of the top 10 teams have already won a tournament in one way or another, and they see that as having proven themselves. that's where the drive to win and compete at such a dedicated level is withered away. and when you keep getting beaten by the same teams and same players over and over again, that just further takes away that drive to be better ("the game is way past it's prime, what's the point anymore?"). that's just my two cents, though.
