$5,500 BenQ event in Dubai

BenQ have together with Que Club announced a $5,500 tournament in Dubai, which will also get a royal visit by the two legends in Emil "HeatoN" Christensen and Abdisamad "SpawN" Mohamed.

Dubai will May 20-21 see a tournament hosted at the Que Club LAN center, which has set sail with the support from BenQ's Middle East branch. The tournament will be played on BenQ's very own XL2410T LED monitors, which was produced with the help of Emil "HeatoN" Christensen and Abdisamad "SpawN" Mohamed.

The tournament will be played in a double-elimination bracket, with a 20,000 AED prize purse (or close to $5,500), yet to be announced how it will be split.

To find out more about the event click here, it is expected that not just teams from the greater Dubai area will attend, as teams hailing from Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and Saudi Arabia are also invited to join the competition.

I dont think its worthy to flight to SAE hoping for win. And even if you win, it wont cover the costs so I don´t expect many good teams to attend.

The monitors are amazing and I think it's really good that old CS players are working with developing gaming gear because they know what's good. Dubai is a lovely city and a very nice city. I hope that Counter-Strike can be big there too and I hope that many good teams attend the event to show the support to the Counter-Strike in Dubai.

Hi. This is an event for only teams in the Middle-East for obvious reasons - huge differences in skill gap and team levels between intl. and local teams etc. A live stream will be broadcasted through GreatFrag.com with some local CS commentators, profi and perhaps Heaton/Spawn doing some guest casting for the lulz. Lastly, I know this might sound a bit absurd but are any of the HLTV.org crew interested in flying down here and doing some coverage of their own? Show the world that the Middle Eastern CS scene is on the rise etc.

Even though I really want to go back to Dubai, we simply would not get enough in return if we decided to fly down there. It all comes down to the size of the event and the teams attending.

Why would any international team go attend this event? The first prize will probably be like max. 4000$, which doesnt even cover the plane tickets/hotel :/ Of course its good for UAE's CS scene (...). Having HeatoN and SpawN there as publicity just sounds really stupid.

they used to be the best, now they're one of the best. they've been on kind of a hiatus for a while, plus there are a number of good teams now.
