ESWC invites 2010 champions

The Electronic Sports World Cup has announced that the 2010 champions have been invited directly to the 2011 event, which will take place October 21-25 in Paris, France.

It has been sort of quiet from ESWC ever since announcing their 2011 event to take place in the fall, where the latest news announced would be the addition of de_mirage and de_forge to the map pool.

The organizers today announced that the 2010 winners in the six game titles have been invited directly to the 2011 event, but will have to confirm their attendance with the ESWC in order to claim their spot. Natus Vincere won the 2010 event by defeating SK Gaming 2-1 in the Grand Final and will therefore be looking at a direct invite to the 2011 edition of the French event.

The female winners SK Gaming are also set to pass around the qualifying stage, but the German-based organization cut the female squad back in December of last year, so it is unclear if the SK fe team will reunite to attend ESWC 2011.

ESWC also state that should any of the defending champions attend a qualifier for ESWC, then their invite will be suspended.

I would love to see Na`Vi vs. SK Ladies on cs_assault with Na`Vi playing CT. The ladies might have a chance at winning.

Its funny you say that because I have in CAL-M. :D Season 13/14/15, I can't even remember. Its been years, but I do remember that it was cbble and we blew them out.

Do you know if the invitation would belong to the team or the orga, in this case SK? As far as reading the news I understand it belonging to the latter. I am glad to read that the core of the former SK female squad is still together :)

since SK doesn't have a female team now i'm sure it will go to missharvey & co. but if you're asking what the rules are in the case that sk did have another female team, then i'm not sure.

Do you think ali and her potentially recruiting female players for this event could be considered as 'SK having a female team'? The only thing I know about that team, the nowadays mix team that is, that they are "sponsored"(?) by SK somehow. The fair thing would be indeed to take into account the players, especially if most of them are part of the same team like in this case.

i am pretty much positive she isn't making a female team for eswc. her mix team is sponsored and playing in esea invite right now, which is the highest level of our best league here. although i agree, if she was to make a team i think the invite should go to whoever has the most players from the championship team. what the actual rule is though i have no idea.

they should invite the top16 teams in the world (navi,sk,fnatic,esc,m5,mouz,esahara,eg,tyloo,redcode,EG,paiN,roccat,mtw,tcm,k23) and do national or regional qualifications for another 16 teams :) and have a single-elimination bo3 tournament..imo its the best way to see some good action :P
