mouz sign karrigan; UK squad released

mousesports announced that they have signed Finn "karrigan" Andersen from fnatic, as well as Michele "zonixx" Köhler in order to revamp their CS:GO division. At the same time, they said farewell to their United Kingdom based squad led by Sam "RattlesnK" Gawn.

Following rumors from earlier today that he is on his way out of fnatic after being removed from the team's ESEA roster, Finn "karrigan" Andersen has been announced as a new player in mousesports, a team he already represented in CS 1.6 until March this year when that division was shut down.

Mousesports have opted to focus on improving their German CS:GO squad following the team's 3rd place finish at EPS Winter 2012 finals last weekend, making two changes in the process. The organization thanked Dimitrios "stavros" Smoilis and Hendrik "strux1" Goetzendorff for their services, while Andersen, who will become the team's captain and in-game leader, and his former teammate in mouz, Michele "zonixx" Köhler, have been re-signed to fill out the two spots.

karrigan and zonixx back in mouz

mousesports lineup now is:

Denmark Finn "karrigan" Andersen
Germany Michele "zonixx" Köhler
Germany Manuel "approx" Zeitz
Germany Tobias "Troubley" Tabbert
Germany Johannes "nex" Maget

At the same time, the organization has announced they are releasing their UK based squad who finished in 3rd-4th place at DreamHack Winter 2012, noting that the decision comes purely due to wanting to focus on the German division.

That means that the following players are without a home now:

United Kingdom Sam "RattlesnK" Gawn
United Kingdom James "Mx" Smale
United Kingdom Pete "pt" Wright
Norway Lasse "stingeR" Midtstue
Norway Preben "prb" Gammelsæter

You can check out the official statement from mousesports and an interview with Andersen on the team's website (in German).

The new squad of mousesports will be seen in action already tomorrow at 21:30 in ESEA Invite when they will meet fm.TOXiC.

what did they do? they awfully lost their eswc-qualifier, they showed their potential at dh but nothing more, then they got kicked from ems .. gG mouz.de's weakest links got cut. the german team will be a lot better in the future. ;)

They played with a stand in for ESWC quals and they were also completely inactive (thats why they made re1ease and hughsy subs cause they were making mouseports.uk inactive) At DH winter they had two 16-14 losses against NiP where they could of beaten them. They also made it out of the "group of death", and they would of easily beaten Lemondogs for 3rd place if they played them. They got kicked out of EMS because they don't like playing ESL as they are owed money. Mouz.de just came 3rd at EPS germany (ROFL) also stavros was one of their best players and nex is shit. I think this lineup is better but only because of karrigan.. :)

stavros and stux1 were both good but way too inconstant. nex is probably the most talented player in this line-up.. you don't seem to know him really. you can't say how this will work out in the end but you can't say that they are worse than the uk team if you haven't seen them play after some time of practice. and denying the great potential of this squad is just stupid.

yet you seem perfectly comfortable running your mouth after your mouz team achieved ZERO success so far (even in their own country), and your new lineup hasn't competed yet. everybody knows mouz UK was better. perhaps what hurt them a lack of effort in certain areas, but that's not something i can pretend to know anything about.

i agree, the old line-up was shit and things didn't work out as they wanted and mouz uk clearly had the edge here. with strux1 and stavros being replaced, the weakest links are cut and right now (and i'm talking about the NEW team) the team has more potential than ever, even more than the uk mouz so it was the right thing to release them.

It has always been mouz who was interested in having at first point a top german team. if its sc2 or cs. I guess this time they want to have the best german cs go team too and money is also an important factor. Having 2 squads isnt that easy to effort at that level.

Karrigan will become caller, and he is an insane awper too, so that's hardly a reason to keep approx. But haven't seen him play csgo yet, if he is as good as he was in 1.6 keeping him is a smart move

Sad to see that karrigan left fnatic, but I am glad he found a home (his previous organization). I think the CS:GO squad for the German team was okay, more practice was needed, and more time, to see if the players would improve together. The UK CS:GO squad was beast - I hope they find a new home soon! One of the top 10 teams in the world for CS:GO right now for sure.

Good decision. No room for 2 teams + strux1 and stavros suck. Also they should kick approx (and maybe even nex) and pay a shitload of money to roman (and maybe tixo or kapio) for joining the team. mouz is a traditionally German clan since 11 years. the name was built up by German players. They did the right thing by staying true to their roots and the loyal German fans.

Hope u guys have practise a lot bcuz in DHW you performed pretty good. :) i was so excited when you were leading 9-0 in dd2 vs NIP... (i dont have anything against NIP, they are truly amazing team). MODDII GL, hope u find motivatsion soon and hope u practise a lot! :) RattlsNk, glgl hope to see you soon in some crazy action.

the german squad just lost their two best players...strux and stavros ... and even with those two, they were way behind the UK squad... i even think the UK squad was better then or equal to the quality of TEAM VERYGAMES... that decision is purely taken by a german... anyways ... as good as the UK based squad is,they will soon find a new home... otherwise i dont see anyone else other then that UK team beating NIP in the near future...

Very stupid decision by mousesports , their UK squad is much better than most of the teams in the professional scene today .. The new German squad of mouz might be good , for sure better than fnatic , but they aren't even close to the level of their previous UK squad imo.

No, there were some issues with them and their attitude... strux1 und stavros played good as long as they r in a good mood, but when mouz lost a map they stopped communicating and hitting ingame. And the plan was only to bring karrigan 4 strux1 into the lineup... but stavros decided to go, cause he wants to play with strux1.

everyone thinks they are soo good because they made a 4th place at dhw... lol and that's their only achievement, fuckin idiot fans. that was probably a one hit wonder because they weren't so known before. better create a strong line-up with former 1.6 players you can trust in, the new mouz will be a lot better than the uk one ever get. and beside that, a german org/team should stay german.. can't stand that british flag near the name of mouz.

I would say coming out in the group of death and getting nip to 16-14 then destroy copenhagen gamers 2-0 and then again Get nip to 16-14 is realy strong, sadly we didnt see them vs verygames, but mouz have shown that they can probably be the First team to beat nip, non others have got that close 2 Maps in a row

they can't beat NiP, maybe on dust2, they lost 16-5 nuke. they can take 1 map.

everyone thinks they are soo good because they made a 4th place at dhw... Everyone saw they are very good because they lost twice 16-14 against NiP. Also their game was really nice to watch. and that's their only achievement At least they have an achievement. The game is new, there have been not many events yet and NiP/VG were taking everything. that was probably a one hit wonder because they weren't so known before As you said, "probably", so that's just you're point of view and you can't prove anything about that. better create a strong line-up with former 1.6 players you can trust We can trust that you're a "fuckin 1.6 idiot fan. the new mouz will be a lot better than the uk one ever get Again, this is just the point of view of a "fuckin 1.6 idiot fan" and beside that, a german org/team should stay german fnatic : New Zealand orga - Danish team SK Gaming : German orga - Swedish team ESC Gaming : German orga - Polish team ...etc can't stand that british flag near the name of mouz. Mousesports had a UK team at CSS and it was one the best. It's just because you know only about 1.6 scene that it seems weird for you to see a UK flag somewhere. Conclusion : why should we trust a brainless 1.6 idiot fan who has no clue about everything except one version of the game.
