Na´Vi, AD, LD progress in Bucharest

Natus Vincere, Astana Dragons and Lemondogs are through to the semi-finals of DreamHack Bucharest, leaving Copenhagen Wolves, n!faculty and fnatic behind.

Coming into this event with a new lineup, Na´Vi flew to Bucharest with hope, rather than expectation, and after failing to impress earlier in the day (10-16 defeat to Astana Dragons), they turned in a great display against a very tough opponent.

The first map of the tie was de_mirage_ce, where the first half was a very close affair, with Na´Vi securing a narrow 8-7 lead at half time. After the break, however, the Ukrainians came out very strongly and conceded just one round as they picked up a 16-8 victory.

Next up was de_dust2_se, where Na´Vi got off to a flying start, picking up 11 rounds as Terrorists. Copenhagen Wolves still trying to respond in the second half, but Na´Vi kept their cool and showed just how important experience is and won the match in the final round, when overtime seemed within touching distance.

In the other match involving a Ukrainian side, Astana Dragons moved past n!faculty on just two maps: Yegor "markeloff" Markelov’s looked very strong on de_mirage_ce, picking up a 16-7 victory after cruising to a comfortable 12-3 lead at the break.

The second map was de_nuke_se, where Astana were handed a scare in the first half, which they lost 6-9, but then the Ukrainian side turned the score around and ran out 16-10 victors to progress in the tournament.

The last quarter-final contest was an all-Swedish showdown between fnatic, who had defeated Ninjas in Pyjamas earlier, and Lemondogs, who far exceeded expectations in this nail-bitting contest.

As expected, the game went down to the wire, with a lot of close rounds being exchanged between the two sides, but in the end Lemondogs came out victorious with 16-12 and 19-17 victories on de_mirage_ce and de_dust2_se, respectively.

So glad they got knocked out. They have always been one of my favorite organizations, but after seeing their behavior once they beat NIP, I can no longer cheer/support this lineup. Carn is great, but JW/MODDII can go jump off a bridge. What pricks.

I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be so chummy with someone who attempted to steal something from you. :P in this case, fnatic thought NiP were trying to rob them of a well-earned victory. After being forced a replay and still managed to beat them, can you imagine the adrenaline rushing through these players? I'm not condoning their behavior, obviously.

AD beating NiP so they can play the finals vs Na'Vi is exactly what CS:GO needs. No more domination, actual competition, and best of all a grudge match as the finals.

So much hate towards fnatic, kids only choose to see one side of the coin.. About the video, when fnatic are shouting at NiP, the "shouting" itself isn't anything new to the scene. It's the refusal to the handshake, however fnatic already shaked hands with NiP after the first OT, so they thought they didn't have to do it again as they didn't even agree with a second OT.

That's logically unsound to think I implied the opposite of what I postulated. A does not equal -A in this case because I'm not juxtaposing FNATIC with the "beta male whiners." So nice try. I disagreed with their decision to not shake hands, but considering all the emotions and facts, I don't think it's right at all to judge them like people have. But whatever, it's the internet. You guys are all geniuses of life right? You all know best no?

I linked your comment with fnatic's behaviour since you're obviously siding with them on this one. There's a notable difference between being sportsmanlike and nice as a fairy, neither applies to fnatic in this case. I understand their frustration regarding the situation but taking it out on NiP in such an immature way is preposterous.

Its still unprofessional as hell. Have no idea why didnt they simply handshake get_right there when he was humble and professional enough to go ask for it, but what fnatic team accomplished was destroying their fanbase. It was for me at least the most respectable organization in the world, down to ashes by some completely immature and unprofessional kids. Doesnt matter the context, even if they had all the reason in the world behind them, they lost it right there.

Take a look around at the site, fnatics getting shit thrown at them all over, even personal attacks such as JW is 'that and this'. If anything, I think THIS is immature. Fnatic didn't deserve this, a video not showing the whole story, making these jumpy little kids join the shittrain, well it's.. Where I live and come from, we choose to treat others with respect and definitely not judge people by their looks. But I've seen you siding with NiP all day.

I can garantee you havent seen 1 single post of me calling anything to fnatic players, on the contrary. I think they were unprofessional and immature in that situation, thats about it. And im not "siding with NiP", they simply had a valid reason to protest.

Well, I started of by saying "so much hate towards fnatic" which indicates I think it's already, TOO MUCH hate towards fnatic with all these personal attacks etc. I'm not here to bitch with you about what side I'm currently in, since there's obviously two sides of the coin. Now either agree with me, as I think you just did, that it's enough shit thrown at fnatic and its players already or don't reply to me at all, next time.

So what, they didn't agree with the OT? In every other sport, when the players don't necessarily agree with the referee, they still shake hands after a match. Come on now. Rules are rules and they are made to be followed. If there has been a mistake done, that's it. Gör om, gör rätt.

For your information, if I'm not mistaken, an admin (or something like that) actually discussed with both managers from each team how this would be settled and fnatic just didn't agree with the results of the outcome of it. They did not understand, why the three first rounds in the 2nd half would not count, if the three first rounds in the 1st half did. There's two sides to this story, you've clearly made your choice of what to choose, I can see that. All I'm saying is that the hate fnatic's getting, personal attacks etc, well they didn't deserve this, and from where I come, Sweden we don't treat folks like this, not judging them by looks. I don't know what fucked up part of Sweden you're crawled up from.

I mean, i played football for several years, i had been beaten the shit out ingame and still shake the opposite team in the end, even tho I wanted to beat the shit out of them. Its a matter of professionalism and behaving like people, sponsors expect of you, like an example to be followed for new gamers. Thats where imho fnatic players failed. And just that.

Oh, so I get you. You never did anything to your opponents, and no one ever did, not even a scream with some ugly words to them in anger? And if someone did, if, he surely became the most hated guy, right? You probably want to throw in the handshake scenario again, and as I said, fnatic thought it was enough with one handshake after the first OT since they thought they had won. They later didn't even agree with a second OT in those circumstances. So there's two sides to it, none deserving as much hate as fnatic is currently receiving.

Of course you shout and tackle them ingame, thats obvious. But in the end of the game, you shake their hands as a signal of sportsmanship, thats how it is. People dont care about the context: They see a arrogant, chilldish, unprofessional attitude and thats more than enough for them to bring fnatic's fanbase to the ground. Im not saying its a right thing to do, its pretty much a complete shame, just saying how it is.

No, I'm not only talking about ingame here, emotions are still there afterwards as well, aren't they? But people don't want to see the excuse behind the refusal not to shake hands (for the second time after the same match). They just want to see the result, ''fnatic's screaming and denies handshake with NiP after NiP-Fnatic match.'' Of course I would've liked to see a second handshake, but that's not my point. My point was that fnatic's getting unnecessary lot of hate towards them, you agrees it seems, so why did you even take up this discussion with me?

Well yes I have made up my mind, as the admins have the final say. Just like a referee in any other sport. The teams doesn't have to agree with it. If a call has been made, and rules have not been followed, it's up to the admins to decide what to do, not the teams. And where I am from should not matter either, should it?

Since you're going with the rules and all, please tell me where you found those rules saying the three first rounds of the 1st half should be counted but not the three first of the 2nd half? Let me tell you what, there was no rules to this, just a discussion between managers, ending with one side happy (NiP) and the other unhappy (fnatic).

The rules in this case are whatever the admins decide. Why are you not getting this point? Sometimes hard calls have to be made and not everyone is going to be happy about it. We can sit here all night and discuss whether they should have had the rounds or not, but at the end it's a call the admins made. If you agree with it or not, you should still act like a professional.

Not getting this point? What point? The admins once fucked up so they should now create their own rules, succeeding to fuck up even more by the looks of it? The second OT was a shot-call made by one guy holding the tournament and the two managers from each team, one side ending unhappy (fnatic) and the other happy (NiP).. Do YOU even realize this?

Sigh... Yes, I do realize that. As I said, I'm not really interested in debating the decision itself with you, as we could be here all night. What I am saying is: Even if a mistake was made (and it might have been in this case, I don't know) be it by admins, organizers, managers or whatever, you should still act like the professional you are and not like a angry child throwing a hissy fit.

Yes, of course. I'm glad we finally understand each other. I think there's a childish behavior in everyone, only it takes different amount of degrees to have it show. Just look at Friberg after losing that 2v2 tournament at the last Dreamhack winter, he almost cried about it and started bitching against it. Could very well be another sign of 'childish behavior'. But what I think people have to understand is, that with this, as with most sports, follows great emotions and decisions players would surely regret after a time when clean-thinking again. And the hate towards fnatic, as I started with, (especially the individual attacks) is something which disgusts me.
