I doubt we'll never see it again. we've never seen a valve made map not come back after being removed from the active map pool except for cobblestone and cache, and both look like they will be remade ...

Its been leaked a few times that Valve is working on a snowy version of cobblestone over the last 2 years. we'll see when they eventually release it if it's actually competitively viable.

D2 again? It's been a few times now, I doubt they remove it again just to re-add it in 18 months.

Dont forget, they didn't make Anubis, it was a mapcore competition winner in 2020 :) Valve bought the map.

Whichever map they remove, it will likely be re-added in 12 months if they dont release a new map, and add an additional 6 months for every new map they release while the removed map is in the reserve...

That is likely the long term plan. Replace 1 map every 6 months, slowly drip feed the community with a new Valve map every year or 2, and in the meantime, keep the reserve maps on rotation.

I think everyone prefers Anubis to Vertigo, but Valve seem determined to switch maps every 6 months, and they have been quite predictable so far with the map additions, apart from the Train surprise.
