Its not even that, its the way he has done it. Being 2-2.5k elo for 3 years just to have half year break and go up to 4.3k elo in three months doesn't seem right to me.

I like to play and watch chess, but it depends more on memory and fast calculations rather than eye-hand skill.

It is completely different game as you dont need any eye-hand movement. Chess is very much a system based game. It has nothing to do with CS.
