Hi there, I'd like to start with a Reddit post that was posted right after KQLY, SF, and SMN were VAC-banned in the "Vaccening" a little over one year ago.

TLDR: HLTV admin BATISTUTA9 reveals that LAN cheating is a big problem. Pro player Weber tweets that ESL apparently uncovered evidence of many more pros cheating at LAN, but didn't publish anything for fear of irreparably damaging the scene.
This is further supported by LPcoin's statements shortly after the Vaccening, in which he claimed there would be more high profile bans in the near future, which never materialized.

Of course, these statements on their own are secondhand and don't necessarily prove anything, so next I'd like to provide some clips from Dreamhack Cluj, the latest "high security" major.
https://youtu.be/C_rUvnuOWBc -- Flusha, still mouselifting more than a year after the witchhunt. Except instead of grainy gifs, now we have a famous cheat coder's in-game explanation of why Flusha's incredibly fishy crosshair behavior here behaved the way that it did. You can read more about Ko1n here if you doubt his legitimacy as a source of knowledge regarding high level cheat coding (https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/2nhc6b/ko1n_ama_check_this_if_you_want ). I've also indexed some of the more damning Flusha clips from the past at the bottom of this post.
https://youtu.be/EcUKWGiRess -- Shoxie, aiming at enemies through walls with a weird, robotic-looking crosshair shake. Note that this isn't the first time Shox has aimed at enemies through walls in match-point clutch situations. Here he is doing the same exact thing in almost the same exact situation, at a completely different tournament (https://youtu.be/jMYSDbhxq5w ), with Ko1n's explanation of why his crosshair behaved in such a manner. If you still doubt, here is yet another video ostensibly demonstrating in-game why the crosshair wigglejiggle happens (https://youtu.be/iN0oQexqQ-M ). Note that this second video also features a clip of Happy locking onto to an enemy's head through a box, while both players are full-strafe. Very fishy, and important to note that this Happy clip is also from Cluj.
It's up to you if you want to believe these sources of information, but speaking as someone who has been playing CS since 2003 and following pro CSGO since 2012, I find them to be pretty damning.
I think it's important to note that Valve and tournament organizers have long-abandoned the practice of releasing player POV demos from big LANs. Why is that? Demo analysis used to be the ONLY way that leagues banned cheating pros, because high-level private cheats are virtually undetectable short of a leak of the cheat's signature, which is what happened in KQLY+co's case (which was a total fluke). Sadly, demo review is a practice that has completely disappeared with the explosion of CSGO.
Further, I'd argue that POV demos are the bare minimum anticheat measure, because even if we never use demo analysis to ban players any more, if pros know they are being recorded they are going to think twice about cheating because the evidence will be available for years after the fact, which will surely reduce instances of cheating.
Get out your tin-foil hats, but it's my theory that Valve/tournament organizers don't release POV demos any more because LAN cheating is widespread and rampant, and exposing as much at this point has the potential to seriously disrupt or perhaps completely dismantle the current pro scene. Which would cost a bunch of people a bunch of money.
This is all a consequence of Flusha cheating blatantly a year ago and not getting punished in any way (worse, in fact, he continues to "win" a fuckton of money http://www.esportsearnings.com/players/3878-flusha-robin-ronnquist ), and is a natural result of allowing cheaters to compete in any competition. They push the ceiling beyond human limits, and eventually, everyone else competing at the top realizes what's going on, and has to resort to cheating not to win but simply to stay relevant. See: pro cycling.
Remember a year ago during the height of the Flusha witchhunt when virtually one representative from every top team at the time stepped forward to openly express suspicion over Flusha's legitimacy? Shox, Cloud9 + Hiko, Penta, HellRaisers, Lurrpis, etc... Pros NEVER openly accuse other pros of cheating-- it just doesn't happen. And this was all more than a year ago. So here we are today-- Valve has done nothing and the cheating is worse than ever with no end in sight.
Thanks for reading and have a nice day!
