I work in embedded development, so speed and performance is hard-wired in my brain. In general though, you are correct.
EDIT: Below you say C++ is not an OOP language though. What the shit, lol.

+1 for learning C first. Tons of embedded positions with C and a lot of languages become easier after C.

Python has OOP concepts as well. But Python can be too slow for a lot of real world applications. It's more useful for simple test scripts against your C/C++/Java application IMO.

Honestly, if you're just starting I would recommend C over both. After you learn C and all of its complications, C++ and Java are a cakewalk.
