Blog: Get cancer and die - my version

The game started with "have fun and good luck", and ended with my phrase
"get cancer and die".

What happened? This is my version.

Facts

We got whined out by e-Stro

Fnatic got whined out by e-Stro in the group play.

E-stro also tried to whine out emuLate after another defeat.

I got accused for duckjumping.

I got kicked from MYM

I stoped playing Counter-Strike.

Let's start with the match. After we won we got the message "don’t leave,e-Stro whined", we waited for two hours. Finally we got the message: "KF3 duckjumped". The feeling I had that moment was great, since everyone playing with or against me know I'm the only player who can't manage to duckjump, even if I try. So I walked around with this great feeling, thinking we were in the quarter final against Emulate (who won their match). We had seen
teams like Pentagram get knocked out and fnatic flopped due whine of e-Stro in the group stage. We had been playing strongly and we could actually start feeling the win of WCG 2007 along with 50 000$ come closer.

Another hour went by, and then we saw e-Stro jumping up from their chairs screaming and pointing at their monitor. Everyone gathered around. They found an illegal duckjump. nOLA had duckjumped at de_nuke in a 5v1 situation where he(a e-Stro player was going to save(as CT), and ten seconds before the bomb blew up. In other words, this did not affect the game. While e-Stro
got to watch the demo for 3 hours we were not allowed to view the demos from WCG, and e-Stro got it provided. They told us, "If you watch the demo and don’t find anything, you are disqualified. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. However, as the gambling person I am, I wanted to watch the demo but got voted down. We got some sympathy from HLTV and Fragbite and since
HLTV had the demo we got a hold of it. I ran down to the media room with some guys from Fragbite and MYM. Just before I was ready to watch the demo I got the message "two min, then walkover. E-Stro is ready..."

We started playing the third map de_dust2 and got the message from admin: "After the match we will not be able to see ANY demos, since we are behind of schedule due e-Stro time delay". They had two admins watching the game behind each team, securing it would not be any duckjumping.

So we played and I looked over at e-Stro, their admins laughed, talked and ate, and did not pay so much attention to e-Stro. While our admins looked at us like we were some kind of criminals.

Surprisingly (no brainer) we saw a youtube-video some days after of e-Stro duckjumping. The WCG admins had missed like fifty duckjumps on each side.

Juve9le and I snapped in the moment of heat. My phrase "get cancer and die" got a little more attention though'. It was a sentence which I wrote in anger and with no doubt in the moment of heat.

I regret writing it only because of those who have loved ones with cancer or for those who know someone who have it. However, I've got no good thoughts left for the e-Stro players what so ever which tried win WCG 2007 on walkovers. Never seen a team lack so much fair play.

I was also extremely disappointed of WCG which I felt saw everything black and white.

Well shit happened and we went home, at least I had a good memorable stay in the US.

While entering the door home the players of MYM said I was replaced by face. I got contacted by the MYM owners and they said it was the other player’s wishes. I took elemeNt’s spot that event and returned with a good feeling of my own performance that was confirmed by him immediately. Therefore I did not see it coming.

I can imagine why I was kicked; maybe it had to do with my phrase?

I'm still not sure this day, and I have not got any explanation by any of them, just the message about my replacement.

I know many of you saw this as a childish or foolish act by me, but I don't want to excuse myself to the e-Stro players. My explanation is what I did while I felt I was robbed for 50 000$ on a wrong and unfair way. We had prepared for some months and saw it all go down the drain and that was obviously a hard thing to handle at the age of 18.

We were also demanded by the MYM organization to place top 3 if we wanted to stay; they obviously changed that demand after the e-Stro match. I was also shocked by the media who let e-Stro get away with it without any pressure or any questions what so ever.

Hope everything is cleared up and that you got a little more information and understanding of the situation.

Serious questions may be answered in the commentary field

Great that you finally cleared up this issue...it will take some load off from you too I believe... I was one of your big fans and I was watching this tournament...when this "duck-jumping" question was raised..the consensus even in the community was that e-stro were just nitpicking on rules (in wrong spirit) and looking for lame reasons to continue in the tournament. I think everyone understands your anger...I felt wrong too...its just that your comment was blown out of proportion...and the focus shifted to you from e-stro ... and a promising player quit the game...sadly :/ I didn't know much about the actions of the admins that you describe..and its really wrong to say the least.... Just leave this behind...now that you are back (glad :D) just focus on playing and have fun...ignore the comments which have no understanding of the situation...your fans are with you :) Good luck mate

watching back that vid I remember it all again, I think its amazing how the mym players kept their cool in person after the rematch, no swearing shouting crying not any physical sign of aggression towards the estros. I can tell by experience that when you've won a lan match fair and square you can never play properly during the rematch if it is ordered. all 5 are aggravated while the opponent is relieved and can purely focus on their last chance. I hated seeing it happen at that moment and I rather wish Oyvind didn't bring it up because Im getting angry about it again, and I was not even playing for them. can imagine how he felt, wouldnt have typed what he typed, but I cant see a reason to blame an 18 yo for such a thing

I bet that they all wanted just to punch those koreans or do anything to justify this unfairness. However what they did was smart because of contracts, by violating contracts there was a risk for them getting kicked from MYM and getting a fine for breaking the contract. What most players doesnt know is that organisations fuck players with their contacts.

you are writing some really good blogs kf3, sincerely. nice read, is nice to know what the hell was going on with you at that time, and to be sincere, i understand 100% your reaction, actually i think i would have reacted worst, as i am a totally temperamental guy i've been "robbed" also some years ago in a competition, where a player 16bited me blatantly, i had so much doubts about it that when the match ended, i stood up and went up to his pc, ask him to show me the video settings and he rebooted the pc fastly, as the pc had "deep freeze" (something similar to norton "go back") the pc rebooted and no proof were left, i got so angry and felt so betrayed that i quited cs for 2 months, then i came back when another tourney was announced hehe.. apart of blogs, u should upload some actual povs from you, because as soon as i knew u came active again, i downloaded the only few demos i found on readmore.de but they are way too old.

For me WCG 2007 in Seattle goes down as one of the most disappointing events I´ve been to(cXg Las Vegas is still leading that list). The WCG admins was not only clueless about competitive Counter-strike and its rules, but extremely rude and unfriendly.

I still despise WMF to this day because of the controversy in WCG. Ultimate sore losers, absolutely no fair play. Also the reason why I was expecting them to be disqualified for the illegal defuse in Arbalet so EG would go through. Would be great to see them being disqualified because of some retarded complaint.

Even though i am a WemadeFOX fan i would say whatever they did was totally wrong and unprofessional..... but rules are rules ..not supposed to be broken ... termi's defuse @ Arbalet cup europe should have been punished harder (loss of 3 rounds at least )....

WCG 2007, a clear mark in my memory. I went there as referee, together with one of my Danish friends. I remember prior to tournament start, the newly appointed head-referee stated that silent-walking/duck-jumping would not be allowed. I remember both my friend and I stating this would do more trouble than actual good, look how it turned out? I never personally refereed any of the matches that had these issues, but did listen in on some of the arguments, for instance the fnatic one - www.hltv.org/?pageid=154&galleryid=49&pictureid=3701 - WCG 2007 was disappointing in many ways, the biggest has to be game/rule wise.

i wonder who made this judgment ? i was the referee of WCG grand final 2009 and also worked for other tournaments in China,i think the WCG is fair anyway. and i know these guys which were referee for CS(they have been referee in WCG for many years.),they are more serious and more conscientious than referees of other games,it had many strict rules to ensure the game would be fair. so i wonder how this affair happend?although the result cant be changed,i think we should know the truth of the matter. I am downloading the DEMOs. BTW,I cant watch the Video right now cuz we Chinese are limited to visit youtube by my national net service, anyone can help me ?I wanna watch it.plz download and send it to [email protected], thx very ,very much.

Really appreciate this blog. I agree with you though, WCG 07 is the worst event for CS. Lack of professional admins, clear concrete rules, and favoritism. But still, it's not wise to be unprofessional. And welcome back to CS world. It's still not too late to revive your CS career.

Wasn't into CS back in 2007, but actually heard about this a couple of months ago, and again when you returned to the scene. Have to say, that rules are rules, but - if you breake a rule and it dosn't affect the game, then it's not a rule broken in my eyes. To take soccer - Offcide, if a person in officed to interact with the game, then the judge won't blow the wistle. Because it dosn't affect the game in any way. Honestly I would done it the same way. The feeling that I presume you've felt is surely a good motive to say that. I hope you come up stronger and payback on e-Stro(WMF) for what they've done.

If anyone was to be blamed it would be the WCG administrators in Seattle for handling the situation so unprofessionally. Their handling of the situation which led to a spontaneous compromise should have followed a clearer ruleset and dispute handling method as laid-out by WCG in beforehand. However bad the outcome of the dispute might have seen, one must remember that both teams broke the rules (duckjumping) however only one team (MYM) was accused of doing it at the time. The match was therefore replayed and e-STRO came out on top. Although e-STRO's behavior was questionable when it came to filing a dispute on the match - "rules are rules" and since it was proven that there were rules being broken during the match I understand why the administrators respected e-STRO's accusations and took action. I know some of the former e-STRO guys and although it might have seen like a silly thing they were in a desperate situation I can assure you that they are not people of nature as bad as you describe them. Language differences and other factors might have caused some misunderstandings at the time. Finally I would like to say that I personally believe that it was WCG's subpar handling of duckjump abuse in Seattle 2007 that caused this incident.

Even you had no good thoughts towards estro players your comment was out of place honestly. And not due to those suffering cancer etc. which you put as a reason to act the way you did, but to insult someone in such way that made you look just worse as the estro attitude you critise. Believe me when I tell you that I understand your feelings but how you let them out was erroneous, to put it mildly. I hope nevertheless you learned the lesson, even though on the basis of your reasoning I understand you still think you acted the right way, and remember the next time the difference between a professional and a childish behaviour.

Great to finally see your side of this whole thing. The rule about duck jumping was really stupid from the beginning. It was like begging for conflicts. I also think your little phrase wasn't all that bad considering what had just happened. I would have gone totally mental, probably smashing both the koreans and everything close to me. Lack of fair play is one of the worst things I know, and what little respect I had for estro was completely blown away after this incident.

I feel realy sorry for you and your team KF3. I lost all my respect to those korean nerds after that match. The other thing that pissed me is the unprofessional judging by the referees. I can't stand to watch people who don't give a f*ck about CS and never played the game to be called "referees". What's the standart of a WCG referee? Wearing a black/white shirt and a WCG pass on his neck I guess ...
