Some teams encourage us to feature the players with a given flag, in this case the German one.

That's just wrong. One of few things I don't like. It means that when Liverpool-Chelsea are playing all players should have English flag even if they are not English? :)

I don't think it is about featuring a flag per se but mainly related to the papers the player has. If the player does have German papers I see it understandable for the team to ask the player to be featured with the German flag.

But if he doesn't have (it's mostly the case), or he has represented some nation already, than he has his nationality set automatically :P

There is no 'team flag', that's my point :) Orga can be German, but if someone is Dutch, he should have that flag, not German. Just silly in my opinion.
