VeryGames survive ALTERNATE scare
The first palpable upset has happened here, at Mad Catz, as VeryGames had to work hard to get a 15-15 draw against ALTERNATE in their second group match.
After easing past logiX 16-3 in their first match in Vienna, VeryGames were tested by the other German team in the group, ALTERNATE, who had lost to Anexis 16-12 earlier on in a keenly-contested game.
The French team got off to a great start on de_dust2_se, on which they started out on the Terrorist side, but towards the middle of the first half, they took their foot back off the gas, allowing ALTERNATE to recover and get seven rounds.

ScreaM's new team looked off the pace
The second half picked up where the first one had left off, with neither side being able to stamp their authority on the game, but ALTERNATE eventually managed to take the score to 15-14. With their economy in the shambles, VeryGames made one last effort in the final round, and it paid off, as parity was restored.
Elsewhere, Ninjas in Pyjamas have one foot in the Mad Catz play-offs after defeating TCM-Gaming 16-5 on de_inferno_se, which allowed them to rack up three more points after beating Nolstagie earlier in the day.
Russian/Ukrainian mix team Nostalgie also caused a major upset by defeating Imaginary Gaming 16-10 on de_mirage_csgo, taking the race for a spot in the next stage down to the final round of the matches.
In the other Group B contest, Anexis moved past logiX 16-12 to cement their place at the top of the table, but they will have to at least hold VeryGames to a draw if they want to secure an automatic berth in the playoffs.
