NiP wins Mad Catz CS:GO Invitational

NiP has won yet another CS:GO tournament, this time the Mad Catz CS:GO Invitational in Vienna, with a 2-0 scoreline (16-13 de_nuke_se, 16-5 de_inferno_se) versus Danish Anexis.

Mad Catz CS:GO Invitational's grand final started with Anexis' upper rush on the terrorist side of de_nuke_se getting mowed down by NiP's Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund and his teammates.

The Swedes quickly went up 3-0 before Anexis won their first round, but Alesund's one-on-three clutch allowed NiP to score the next three rounds. The Danes won two well executed gun rounds, but NiP's FAMAS force buy gave them back control.

Trailing 3-9, Anexis looked to be able to take over the upper bombsite, but Adam "friberg" Friberg's quick three kill sequence allowed NiP to win the round. Last rounds were traded, and Anexis were behind by 4-11 at half.

NiP's in-game leader Richard "Xizt" Landström made mockery of the Danes on their terrorist pistol round, knifing two of the Anexis members in the back in vents, giving NiP a 13-4 lead after a save round.

Fifflaren, who has improved lately, helped NiP win yet another event

Anexis' Mathias "MSL" Lauridsen kept them in the game though, buying a MAG7 on the second save round and scoring four huge kills with it. However, Robin "Fifflaren" Johansson's amazing one-on-two clutch with a Glock quickly made it 14-5 for NiP.

Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander's perfect fake peek against Friberg left the Swede with no time to plant the bomb, and two more round wins now made it 14-8. Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg then secured NiP gamepoint with an AWP shot through a wall.

However, Anexis weren't ready to give up, as four rounds from Lauridsen and double kills from him and Rossander all of a sudden had them sitting at thirteen rounds after NiP's save. Unfortunately that is all we saw once again, with GOTV switching maps too early with NiP winning 16-13.

NiP won the opening pistol round on de_inferno_se as well to go up 3-0, but a perfectly executed slow attack all over the map gave Anexis round four. Fifth round saw Nicolaj "Nico" Jensen win an important one-on-two situation with quick AWP shots, forcing NiP to save.

Swedish flag is once again up on the highest podium

The Swedes kept rolling as they won five straight rounds, one of them with Alesund scoring three M4A4 kills in B. Anexis won two more as terrorists, one of them with Jensen scoring a one-on-one Glock headshot, but Johansson's three M4A4 kills gave NiP a 10-5 lead at half.

Second half pistol was won by Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg's three Glock kills in a two-on-three, and the Ninjas wasted no time racking up two of Anexis' save rounds, extending their lead to 13-5.

First gun round saw Adam "friberg" Friberg open it up with two AK47 kills on the counter-terrorist spawn side of middle, with Lindberg once again finishing the round, this time with an AK47 headshot near B.

Last rounds were a mere formality as Anexis simply didn't stand a chance versus the Ninjas, who stay undefeated in CS:GO, and fell short 5-16, or 0-2 overall.

lol? ESC (i mean "the golden five") won most WCG, NaVi dominate since 2010, mTW were good too, and yes, there was SK and fnatic (Swedish fnatic) but you cant say that Sweden dominate cs 1.6... And this tourney was shitty, coz of deleys, gotv lags, gotv breaks, shitty commentators, banning streamers (SLTV for example)...

i agree that sweden is the most dominant, but that blog's rankings are pure bullshit. there is no specification what level of tournies are counted etc, so just saying sweden has "69 golds" means nothing

so winning intel extreme masters world championship is worth the same as winning a 4 team invite only tourney in asia? give me a break, simply saying "69 golds" (and most events don't give out gold medals, which means it's 69 titles, not golds) means nothing. don't take my words out of context. grurior has it below.

" I just added all the country rankings from my previous blog to get this one. It's a total of 144 tournaments, 12 years of Counter-Strike and a gazillion matches !" fromm the blog. and if you read other rankings by gOrdii you will notice something "there is no specification what level of tournies are counted etc, so just saying sweden has "69 golds" means nothing" there is. just read whole damn blogs. i thought youre smarter, but i rather believe youre just lazy... ill do it for you "On the choice of tournaments : I only picked "top" international tournaments. Some medium level tournaments are missing, and I added some pretty weak tournament just for the sake of tradition, like the first GameGune in 2003. I put the top8 for major tournaments like ESWC, WCG, CPL Summer/Winter and top6 for IEM as the format is weird. Otherwise, it's the top4." have fun.

na`vi winning two intel extreme masters events and one wcg still equals two iesf wins and two e-stars wins for fnatic in 2007-2009 when those events weren't competitive. you can't compare the number of "titles" like that

and you cant make system to compare each tournament so precisely. there must be some simplification if you want to compare cs teams from different era's. its just a MAJOR tournament, like in olympics when in 2008 you have to beat phelps, best swimmer ever, and in 2012 you dont have to do that to win gold medal. and those gold medals are equal for historians...

first of all there has ever only been 4 major events: wcg (till 2010), cpl (till 2006), eswc (not anymore), iem (s2-6). winning any one of them when they were majors is equal, but winning wsvg louisville or gamegune mexico doesn't equal a major. huge difference.

well here's a cool fact for you: you don't get gold at gamegune. you also don't get gold at 95% of other events. you might also consider that in real sports people attend almost all events, but in cs people can't afford to/don't have time because cs doesn't pay enough to be their priority etc.

How can you not agree Sweden were dominating CS? Either you are new or you are just ignorant. "We" have by FAR the most medals, and golds, in bigger tournaments. And I don't mean a close win, but a huge one. There's no doubt ESC (and their previous names) is the most succesful team. But Poland isn't close to Sweden in total.

Dominating CS means that you dominated absolutely every tournament, which is far from the truth. The country with the most achievements - yes, but you didn't win absolutely everything. Pick your words right.

"dominate 1. To control, govern, or rule by superior authority or power: Successful leaders dominate events rather than react to them. 2. To exert a supreme, guiding influence on or over: Ambition dominated their lives. 3. To enjoy a commanding, controlling position in: a drug company that dominates the tranquilizer market. 4. To overlook from a height: a view from the cliffside chalet that dominates the valley." I'd say it's perfectly fitting. Sweden was always ahead in 1.6. So may playing, so many teams. SO MANY MEDALS.

There were a lot of problems with Go tv lagging on streams. I guess there were to many viewers. And some matches were delayed for 2+ hours. That's a shame. And there was a problem when it was ESC NiP i think with the GO TV not working at all and they were reconnecting disconnecting it for 1 hour at least ? Lets wait and see for CPH games and DH how they are gonna kick ass for quality services.

+1 hasnt there always been a "dominant" team in both versions of cs, source was fnatic/reason/salvo(dignitas)/verygames and as far as i can recall 1.6 was fnatic, navi, sk i didnt follow 1.6 that closely so i wouldnt know about that scene

no. take a look at the holy statistics: hltv.org/?pageid=135&userid=62854 there were always at least 3 teams that could win the tournament. most events had like 5 top teams with realistic chances to win.

The difference is that even when those 1.6 teams were dominate, they lost games on LAN. NiP is literally undefeated in LAN so I can see why someone would find that boring.

that's what best teams do (e.g. miami heat atm in nba). they are simply a level above everyone else right now. they have some of the best players of all time, and they started playing cs:go first out of just about everything. eventually teams will catch up, but currently no one is on their level.

Well when cgs was picking games for their pool bsl and heaton were 1.6 representatives and they told valencia to pick 1.6 for the obvious reasons (gameplay, viewers, community etc) and then lewis came and told valencia(and he didnt have a clue about gaming) to pick css because of better graphics and becase it would fit more with the other games. Well you know the rest

Actually, no. NiP shows the most beautiful game, and thats what I want to watch. Watching NiP go full mental, showing how the game is meant to be played, is more interesting than what teams are placed in the top3. If you dont like watching NiP play, you just dont like watching this game.

Perhaps, but for example, I always enjoy watching athletes like Usain Bolt and Lionel Messi, and I am huge big fan of athletes like Mike Tyson, Diego Maradona, Aleksandr Karelin etc. who also was totally out playing their opponents in their prime. But everybody knows that it never lasts forever, so you just have to enjoy the show and watch while history is being made.

no one is in their prime in current cs:go though, the game is too new for that. that's why that whole argument is invalid to me. nip are by far the best team, there's no question, but it's such a new game that to me it doesn't compare to someone dominating a more established game/sport

On the other hand, you can apply that argument to almost every sport or activity out there. 1.6 was released in 2003, would you say that the legendary SK team who ruled back then don't deserve the legendary status they have recieved? Just because Muhammad Ali probably wouldn't last one round against Mike Tyson, when in their prime, doesn't change the fact that he is considered to be one of the best of all time. It's not like NiP is totally superior because they started to practice the game a couple of weeks before the others, they simply have figured the game out and have something that the other ones don't. That's what makes you go down in history.

if you can be the best in the world at something, even if the competition hasn't evolved too far yet, it's still an amazing accomplishment. however, other teams are so far behind nip it almost seems as if we were spectating an old cs 1.6 wcg qualifier where the best team of a country just dominates their domestic competition. all time greats need competition, and nip doesn't yet have almost any.

prob VG or more prob NaVi could be beat NIP but ....we have what we have ! and one more notice : Nip just in 99% beginning at CT side ---> reasonable they winning maps! cuz almost always better begin to play at CT side in CSGO! Mirage - CT dominated Inferno -CT dominated Cache- CT dominated Nuke - CT dominated Mill- CT dominated Dust- CT dominated Train -CT dominated " may be Dust2 50/50 Nip just got luck for this tourney ! firstly playing at CT side !!!

He's right though. Even those dominate teams lost a few matches/events once in awhile during their dominate streaks. NiP has literally lost no matches at LAN. That's unheard of..

NiP is dominating more than any team ever in any CS version. Even more than SK 03, Na'Vi 2010, just all them. On LAN, they are 67-0-0 as far as i know this has never happened. Not sure about source so maybe I am wrong but i highly doubt it. EDIT: correction: i believe they have ONE draw. So 67-0-1
