NiP win Copenhagen Games 2013

NiP have won Copenhagen Games after yet another dominant performance, annihilating Western Wolves 16-2 in the grand final on de_train_se to win 16,500€.

NiP started off the grand final by winning the pistol round as counter-terrorists on de_train_se, with statistical leader Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg scoring two kills with his P2000.

Western Wolves managed to get a bomb plant and three kills on their save, but NiP quickly shut down their outer rush for a 3-0 score. After one more save the Danes finally got their first round thanks to Nicolaj "Nico" Jensen's three AWP kills, but it wouldn't last for long.

WW's outside fake was quickly shut down by NiP, and although Jensen saved his AWP, they weren't able to do much with it on the following round as Lindberg's M4A4 kills on the retake gave NiP another round, 1-6.

After another lost save round, Jensen and Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander were left in a two-on-four where they scored the first two kills, but Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund's SCAR picked up the round for his team.

Happy Ninjas on the podium

As their frustration started showing through, WW attempted another inner attack, but despite getting the bomb planted, were shut down. Alesund's SCAR cleaned up the next save round, and suddenly the score was 1-10.

Nichlas "Nille" Busk's crash cost Western Wolves a round as they sat looking confused in spawn, and after another inner bombsite retake NiP had extended their lead to a dominant 12-1.

The Danes finally got their second round on the second to last round with Robin "Fifflaren" Johansson missing a few shots on Rossander, but he made up for it by scoring two AWP kills on the final round to make it 13-2.

Second half pistol round saw NiP's super duo, Alesund and Lindberg, combined for four kills to win the pistol. From there on out it was smooth sailing for two more rounds, with both stars ending up at 20 kills total.

Yes, they beat a fnatic that was told they had already finished first in their group. So after winning the first map they pugged it. If you watched it you could tell.

Na'Vi would have lost either against VG, VP or WW. They weren't playing good on this event. The fact that they struggled that hard against Fnatic shows it.

Oh really ? ^^ The difference is that Quantic played very well on the event, and made it to the upper bracket, while Na'Vi didn't. We can't predict how they would have done in lower, but I'm pretty sure VP or WW would have rolled over them with single digit (maybe VG as well). They just had a shit event, it happens. They'll come back stronger on next one (hopefully).

You're basing your conclusion on a too small sample size! fnatic are not a bad team! Na`Vi for sure didn't have their day, but you cannot claim that Na`Vi would've played bad on the next day in the playoffs too!

No I can't, that's why I didn't. I just said above that we can't predict how they would have done, but based on what they showed on the event before that, they wouldn't have made it. And I didn't say Fnatic are a bad team either. They are probably top10 or top 15, which is good.

This is irrelevant, since the real competition started only in 2013 (before that only VG and ESC were decent teams). And even though, having no rivals whatsoever makes it a lot more easy than in 1.6 or Source days.

1 map for grand final is ridiculous, knowing that most of the matches consisted with at least 2 maps. should have made a bo5 with nip 1-0 in a lead.

Yep I agree. I think they need Bo3 for the consolidation final, and then Bo5 with 1 map handicap. Otherwise the team winning the upper-bracket has a huge advantage. Oh, and they to do the last part of the brackets on fucking SUNDAY !!! It's freaking ridiculous to make the spectators stay until 4 am...

even one map is too much for a match starting 3:30 am, you should know this. instead they should make a better schedule and make the final a bo5 with a 1 map lead for nip, as he said, would be better.

00:00 is still far too late for a grand final. i've played a few bo5 finals in my days and imo they're too long. bo3 is a sweet spot, but it's hard to be fully focused for up to 4 hours in a row

why? because you wanted to see two maps of 16-2? a win is a win. that concept seems VERY hard to grasp for some people. is the superbowl a joke then, too?

Not having the final be a bo3 is pretty dumb. Always leads to boring matches. Especially on a bad map like train. "Upper bracket only needs to win 1" is a bad way of doing it, especially for a grand final.

I see a lot of people commenting about WW, but actually it's VP that should be given a lot more credit and I think that they deserved more to be place 2nd. They already beat WW in a bo3 and WW were in a better situation considering that they were hot, while VP had rested for hours(GJ admins), but of course one could argue that they were more tired. What we can conclude from this event, VG is not the 2nd best team in the world anymore, NiP are still few levels before everybody else!

Well done to NiP, here are some stats: NiP lost 7/30 pistol rounds in total and 3/18 in the playoff stages and never lost both pistol rounds on a map. On average they only lost 6.5 rounds a map, losing 98 rounds in the whole tournament. Out of the total rounds 338 they played they lost 12 rounds in a clutch situation, 9 1v1s 2 1v2s and a 1v4. They only needed to clutch 12 of 240 rounds they won with 6 1v1s, 4 1v2s and 2 1v3s. Forest and Get_Right had the highest k/d ratio of players in the tournament, 2.13 and 2.05 respectively. Forest with the most kills in the main tournament 348 in 15 maps an average of 23 a map. Get_Right who used a Scar in the grand final managed to get 19 kills in total with it the most of any player. Xizt had a headshot ratio of 62% the best in his team bettered by only 11 players out of the 160 that competed in the main tournament. Friberg had the 2nd best headshot ratio in the team with 58% and had the 20th best k/d ratio overall. Fifflaren was just behind his teammate with the 21st best k/d and had 63 awp kills.

are you insane or a troll? just to clarify: 1) the computers were all rented from the tournament - it was 110% the event organizer's fault. 2) more delays were caused (hours and hours) by admins being incompetent and literally taking hours to make a simple decision (e.g. fnatic-WW score, creating brackets, tiebreaker in group B, etc.) it wasn't the best cs:go tournament (dreamhack winter 2012 was) and it wasn't even in the top 50 of all time events. copenhagen games is a lan with a cs tournament. that's why its so badly organized.

VP vs. NiP was the real final for me. That was played in a reasonable time when both teams actualy were able to play at their full potential. Most of the teams that lost in the higher stages of the LB were just completely exhausted.

There was nothing stopping the females to play in the main tournament. They would have to go through byoc though since they choose not to play in any tournaments that could bring them an invite. Forcing female teams into a tournament would be complete bullshit.

NIP team with best skill at the moment...but: -Navi have bad situation in CPH 2013, cause that they out of tournament. for me Navi will be champions again....cause they show his skill and is good....(in CPH win NIP, its too good!) -other who can play better NIP is Virtus.Pro, they do good try, but they need more lucky.... VP its relay good team...I really like to see they aim in Bx3 vs ESC :D NIP are good team but some day they will be lose and who do that is NAVI or VP....this will be in short time... P.S it my opinion, if you not concord...SORRY BRO! :D

What I don't get is the bo3 groups, and the double elimination. There are 2 good ways to run a CS tournament. bo1 groups where maps are vetoed and played in lurrpis format where the teams that win the first game, go up in the second game and the one that wins that doesn't have to play the third game and the teams that are 1-0-1 play the last game for the 3rd spot. For elimination either have 16, 8 or 6 teams advance to a single elimination bo3 playoffs. if you have 6 teams for smaller tournaments do the "IEM" way and have the 3-6 placed teams play the relegation playoff to get to the semi finals and the top 2 seeded go to the semis straight away. bo1 and double elimination in playoffs is always tiring and random.

Hopefully, Virtus.pro can step up fast. Virtus is the only team that stands a chance against NiP. Those two maps were the only remotely interesting games with NiP's participation.
