fm.TOXiC send k1ck packing

fm-eSports TOXiC have earned a semi-final matchup against VeryGames after a 2-1 victory over k1ck.

The first map of this best-of-three tie was de_nuke_se, where k1ck had shown signs of struggle during the group stage as they were made to work hard to beat Infused and were soundly defeated by VeryGames.

Having started off on the highly-favoured Counter-Terrorist side, k1ck were expected to control the tempo in the first half, but they were stunned by a flying start from fm.TOXiC, who took the first three rounds.

k1ck reduced the deficit to 3-2 thanks to some aggressive play from Christopher "mUttt" Fernandes, but then fm.TOXiC regained control of the game and took the score to 9-3. The Portuguese team got a grip in the latter stages of the half and secured the last three rounds, but they were still down 9-6 at the break.

In the second half, k1ck took the pistol round after a straight push onto the ramps and went on to add two more to their tab to draw level on nine rounds. Some rounds were then exchanged between the two sides, but k1ck eventually managed to turn the score around as they picked up a 16-14 victory.

Next up was de_dust2_se, where fm.TOXiC got off to a flying start and picked up a commanding 6-0 lead. k1ck then pulled one back, reducing the deficit to five rounds, but fm.TOXiC held on to their lead and continued picking up round after round. The Portuguese side looked a little bit more lively towards the end of the first half, but the Danes still enjoyed a comfortable lead as they were up 10-5.

k1ck came out the brighter in the second half, winning the pistol round and the next two anti-eco rounds, but then fm.TOXiC gave a great answer and overplayed their opponents, coming out on top 16-9 to take the game to a third map.

On de_inferno_se, fm.TOXiC were on cruise control until the fourth round, when Rui "emotioN" Sousa's crashed, which forced the match to be paused for several minutes. The small break did not do k1ck any good, though, as the Danes did no take their foot back off the gas.

fm.TOXiC were at one point up 11-1, and even though k1ck would manage to get two more rounds before the break, they knew it would be almost impossible for them to get anything out of the match.

The second half's pistol round then went to fm.TOXiC, who went on to win this one-sided map 16-3 and progress to the semi-finals, where they will tackle VeryGames.
