GuardiaN hints at retirement

Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács has dropped a hint that he could retire from gaming following Richard "shoxie" Papillon's decision to join VeryGames.

Following the disbandment of Imaginary Gaming in March, Papillon had been playing with TCM-Gaming alongside Kovács, Dimitrios "stavros" Smoilis, Hendrik "strux1" Goetzendorff and Anil "cLy" Gülec.

Despite being a mix team with little practice, TCM acquitted themselves really well and won RADEON Offensive #2 and the qualifiers for SLTV StarSeries VI and TECHLABS Minsk, defeating teams like Western Wolves and Natus Vincere.

However, Papillon could not hang up the phone on an offer from VeryGames and returned to his former team, which left TCM-Gaming with a four-man roster.

GuardiaN weighing up his options

HLTV.org has now learned that the remaining TCM players have decided to go their separate ways, with Kovács ready to listen to offers before deciding whether to hang up his mouse.

"Time to retire.. But i will wait few months for some good offers and if wont get any I will retire," he wrote on his Facebook page.

"Anyway, thank you for your support guys.."

This is yet another blow for the Slovakian star, who had already been left dismayed by the disbandment of his 3DMAX team after Copenhagen Games. Kovács has the third-highest rating in the game at 1.27, only behind that of Ninjas in Pyjamas duo Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg (1.37) and Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund (1.39).

The following four players have now been left without a team:

Hendrik "strux1" Goetzendorff

Yeah right, insane cs players are on every streetcorner. He's had bad luck in go so far, being by far the best in 3dmax, and now with a great running mix where the other big star player gets lured away. If you don't understand it makes him ponder retirement I don't know how to explain it to you

sort of true, but it's hltv.orgs decision to post it here :P and yeah it was on his fb page but that is probably to alert some teams to the fact that this is their last chance to recruit him (well that's what I suspect he is trying to accomplish with his post)

I am not saying there shouldn't be news about this. I am just saying that you don't have to make everytime a statement that you want to retire when you get a setback. You are a amazing player, just wait until you you get some offers. And trust me, you'll get some. You have to be patient.

At the highest level yes, but the CS community is designed in such a way that petty things such as this garner attention. Also let's not kid ourselves and think objective journalism is any less impacted by effects such as political agenda and media bias, which in my opinion are worse than gossipy news which can spur speculation, if that.
