'Golden Five' weigh up ESC future

Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas' troops are weighing up the possibility of leaving ESC Gaming, HLTV.org has learned.

After establishing themselves as one of the greatest teams of all time in 1.6, the Polish giants endured a slow start to life in CS:GO, failing to go beyond the group stage at the ESWC finals and at DreamHack Winter.

It seemed that things were taking a turn for the better when ESC won SLTV StarSeries IV in December and followed it up with the gold in the CS:GO tournament at IEM Katowice, but the results over the last few months have been far from impressive.

The 'Golden Five' finished 13th-16th at Copenhagen Games before placing fourth at StarSeries V and at the ESEA Finals. The final straw came last weekend, when the Polish side suffered a 16-14 defeat at the hands of /10/ to lose the TECHLABS Minsk trophy to the German mix team.

'Golden Five' are owed four months salary

HLTV.org knows that ESC's players have been playing without salary for the last four months and that they are not tied to the Germany-based organisation. The team's contract with headsponsor QPAD expired in January.

This situation would certainly help to explain the drop in form in recent weeks as the players are likely to lack the motivation to follow an intensive practice schedule.

The Polish players are no strangers to this situation as their relationships with Meet Your Makers, WICKED, Vitriolic and Frag eXecutors all came to bitter ends.

It is understood that even though ESC are working hard to keep the team in their ranks, the players are willing to listen to offers from other organisations.

The three-time WCG champions have been invited to attend DreamHack Summer next month and are currently competing in Fnatic Frag Out Season 2, StarSeries VI, ESEA Invite and RaidCall EMS One.

News corrected at 21:16 : The Polish team were contracted to QPAD, not ESC.

If SK would want them they would have been under the SK banner a long time ago. If they could go back in time to change any of their contract they had against an contract with SK they would have done it every day a week.

Their contract expired so they aren't getting any salary. I think in case they would have done better and win some events then they would've got a new contract a lot faster. (Atleast that's what I think happened)

Nope, this far they didnt win any international CS: GO tournament, at least not any with some serious prestigue. Im just little curious, now, how does your top10 rank (since birth of the scene) for CS: GO looks like then(?) and i will analyze it, and we see.

GL G5! For everyone shouting to retire, honestly I wouldn't be surprised if they do so. They're around 25(?) years old and if you're not NiP, competitive CS:GO is funny money. It's ok if you're 20-23,but later on? Cmon! You cannot decently live from it. It's probably great adventure and a lot of travel (which is also fun for some time), but long term it's dead end anyway...

No pracc = no skill = no win = no money = no sponsors = no salary. esc basicly needs sponsors to pay the salary as every org needs them. if u send a team to every offline event and dont win $$ sponsors wont pay anymore. they should sit on their asses pracc more and get some skill and become motivated again or retire. its not esc fault. a contract got 2 parties as usual.

If EG have players like incontrol idra etc who have no results, but attracts wievers streams and fans , i think Golden five could do the same, many fans even if results lacking recently. what matter most is publicity for the orga, and golden five provide strong credential for anyone looking for spectator numbers and brand association good luck

I wonder why the fuss here is only about which orga is picking them soon, rather than discuss what's wrong with this lineup. Neo is inconsistent and far away from his level at 1.6 and Loord is the weakest link of the team. Seeing they are polish, I can't see these guys playing for any other solo polish team, so it's very unlikely they'll split. Wouldn't like to see TaZ retire. He's a beast on CS:GO...

well, they arent the only ones whom has had problems with CSGO, just look at VG, who was the best team ever in CS:S, fnatic, NaVi and so on, i mean, those are the teams who was the top 5 in the world withing 1.6 and CS:S. TaZ and monsterpasha will get on track. All they need it motivation, and MORE PRACC. It's a new game, and you can't live on old achievements... But i do really hope to see Taz and zeh boys furthur on, dont give uP:)
