Mattye joins fm!Ladies

fm-eSports have confirmed that Matilde "Mattye" Bidne has joined the organisation's female CS:GO division.

fm!Ladies had been linked with roster changes after attending Cap Arena 2 with Brandon "weber" Weber as a stand-in, who could not prevent the team from finishing 13th-16th at the French event.

It has now been confirmed that fm!Ladies have waved goodbye to Lisa "Emma" L., who had been part of the team since their creation, in March.

Replacing the German player is Norwegian Matilde "Mattye" Bidne, a former CS:Source player who is currently studying in the United Kingdom.

"I am passionate about gaming, even though I have only played CS for three years," Bidne told fm-eSports' website.

"I am highly motivated to be the best player I can possibly be, and I work every day to reach that goal.

"I am looking forward to being part of this team."

fm!Ladies now have the following lineup:

Abigail "Abiii" Glover
Kaat "Kaat" Vanhulle
Laure "CeleN" Denivelle
Sophia "Kim" Benfakir
Matilde "Mattye" Bidne

Lovely girl, popped some heads at the UK Corsair event a few months back.

there was once a female team(snogard dragons) in the german eps. They lost all 15 matches :D Even against some teams that didnt even had any practise and lost against randoms.

Agreed it is BS to have a female only tournament with cash prizes... Lets work on EQUALITY people. Females have no advantage, whats next Asian or Black only tournament? If a female player is good enough to compete but cannot find 4 females at her level she should try to join a male team..

No. But the female teams in CS:GO are comparable to the average amateur male teams. So why should female teams get the opportunity to play for thousands of dollars in prize money purely because they have breasts, which lets face it, is the reason behind it. Regardless, as long as sponsors profit from having extremely mediocre female teams assigned to their labels due to horny little boys then nothing will change. It actually hurts the female players ability, as they won't really improve if they are limiting themselves to competing in female only tournaments. In this game you are not handicapped as a result of your sex, so there is no reason other than financially to have a separate male and female tournament.

I remember when SK gaming girls won ESWC girls tournament, I believe in 2004/2005. 1 week before the tourney my former team, CAL-M playoff contenders qT played them, we were up 14-0 on d2 (CT SIDE) before they started kicking us calling us hackers...

+1 it's just a gimmick. And Alth is 100% correct that all it does is handicap them in the end. Females have no disadvantage in this game. It's not about physical prowess at all, that's why it makes no sense to seperate female and male players - which both hurts the players in the long run and hurts players in the tournament as prize pools are reduced to spread it between the two sexes.

well if there isnt we should lower standard? hell no in badminton its unisex online gaming isnt about physical prowess, its about how hard you are willing to work for it, the Women's Liberation Movement wanted to be equal. And now a game that has no indication to phsyical boundaries they have a league that isn't as skilled with a decent prizepot. Join the prize pots together and let them compete equally. If they aren't as good that has nothing to do with them being and woman.

Thats the point you moron. Segregating into separate tournaments is fucking stupidity at its finest. If they're good enough to compete at the top level, let them. If not, they can fall into line like every other person that plays CS day in and day out. These girl teams are nothing more than publicity stunts for orgs and sponsors, and its weighing the scene down. If they can place highly, more power to them and they'd have respect for it. But getting their own tournaments/prize pools just because of the fact they are women? That's just a joke inb4 i get white knighted into oblivion.

How is it ad hominem? Female teams/tournaments are a joke. It's the same as the whole bullshit with League of Legends and Team Siren in the past week. They're trying to make themselves seem special when they're not. I have no problem with girls playing this game, or any game for that matter, but the recognition they get isn't for their skill. And if they were males we would never hear of them. If they actually played, and were decent, like I said, then more power to them. But this whole female-only tournament bullshit is ridiculous. All it does is detract from a general prize pool for a game, e.g ESWC. If they want to compete they should compete in the general field, not in some special tournament just for them.

I agree. I'm a girl and I think none of us have a chance against the top teams, but we dont deserve easy female tournaments./money. Most of the female gamers whine because people say they are bad and make sexist jokes, well maybe it is time to prove themselves and actually join a unisex tournament where they will get a fair ranking. They will only get better if they play with guys, its as simple as that. But it will never happen :P hellrose's team might play the byoc at dh, which is a good thing and i hope all female teams do the same

the tournaments are unisex. Any female player is welcome to join any team, however none have been up to par "skill-wise". So they create these tournaments to both raise interest amongst female players, and because its perfect marketing for the sponsors.

Exactly. They aren't up to par so they get tournaments with nice amounts of prize money laid out of a plate for them because they are female, and sponsors realise sex sells. Isn't right at all.

Well I think from the players perspective (both male and female), organizations are incredibly unfair to the players. Even with teams like NiP, in the competitive scene's "business model", the players are the least paid. Some other organizations don't even pay their players. One thing that is for certain is that creating female only leagues really hurts the female skill level, if you consider the long term effects. If there were no female only leagues, they would train with "unisex" teams and after a few years you might see some female players with amongst the most popular teams. That being said, eliminating female leagues still wouldn't fix the problems that arise from prejudice. So at least they have a platform where they can compete and have fun.

How do you think these female teams are going to qualify or get invited to those unisex tournaments? They have no chance to qualify, cause they can't win even amateur male teams. And if they get invited, then it's not fair to male teams. These unisex tournaments would kill female gaming imo.

So where is the prize money for all the amateur male teams that can beat these female teams? Oh wait. There isn't any. Because they have a penis. Seems fair right. People who are better aren't allowed to compete in tournaments that dish out lots of prize money, when there is no advantage in cs for males over females. Perhaps they could stop playing against each other and staying average, and actually try to improve, instead of settling for low quality tournaments. Maybe if they actually tried we could see female players competing at a high level in the future.
