DreamHack Summer viewer's guide

Full schedule for DreamHack Summer 2013 has been released and we can now publish our official viewer's guide for the summer's first Counter-Strike: Global Offensive event.

Curious to find out when your favorite team will play? What time will NiP begin their campaign and what time can you expect Virtus.pro to make their LAN debut with Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács?

Look no further as the information is now readily available. Please note that due to the GSL-type group stage format not all matches are pre-planned, but you can still figure most of them out.

Can NiP defend their championship in Jönköping?

In each group teams can advance to playoffs by winning two games, while losing two will knock them out, as per a regular double elimination bracket, simply for four teams.

BYOC qualifier will be held on Saturday prior to the main tournament's start. Top two finishers will be randomly placed in groups C and D with no grand final set to take place.

sorry but inventing a 2on2 tournament in 2013 with more price money than many 5on5 tournaments is the dumbest thing you could invent to bring CS:GO forward

thats got nothing to do with this, but many people enjoy that kind of thing, especially americans I think :) I'm skeptical too, but if it brings in new people to play/watch then who cares!

I doubt this is something that brings in new people because nobody new gets the chance to play it just the pro 5on5 teams which is even more stupid in my opinion

hard to imagine why a girl (or anyone else for that matter) would find 2v2 cs interesting if they don't care about it in 5v5.

I suppose it would be a good way to be noticed and hopefully then you can make a step up to 5x5, but then why would you if prize money is good :)

the 2v2 teams in the tournament are composed of the teams from the main tournament. it's just a huge downgrade with similar players.

It's obviously a pr jippo, think of it like an football 3on3 with Zlatan, Messi, Augero VS Ronaldo, Cavani, Neymar with a 100 million dollar prizepool. Not really a real game of football/cs but more focus on extreme talent. Not gona revolutionize the game but hopefully it can bring some attention to it.

You can't label it a failure before it have even started. Hard to even label what a failure would be. I think in worst case scenario it gains a couple thousands watchers on the streams per game and maybe gets some fps 1on1 game players interested aswell. CS is a young sport, trying new things is a good way to go even if the experiments not always turns out perfect. Now I would also put the money in the 5on5 tourney, but maybe that's shortsighted, maybe this will create more buzz outside the scene which in long terms makes the sport bigger and thus increases the money. 2on2's will obviously only continue to be played if this is a big success spectator wise (which I have a hard time to believe) but atleast after this they have tried it out.

2on2s will only continue to be played if there's more people who like to throw money at projects with minimal roi

You don't know what the ROI will be before the tourney have been played. Hard to measure even after, whos to say spending money on 5on5 tourneys in CSGO isnt a huge waste for sponsors aswell?

it is likely a huge waste for sponsors as well (as cs:go isn't very popular), but considering a 2v2 tournament has no chance at being more popular (or even as popular) as the 5v5, it's going to be a bigger waste of money.

Im not sure this 2on2 tourney should be seen as an serious attempt at changing the scene, more a way to spice it up. I mean even if the money got put into the 5on5 tourney it isnt sure that would increase the overall spectator numbers compared to this format with both a 5on5 and 2on2 tourney.
