ESC ease past Cursive
ESC Gaming have set up a thrilling encounter against Virtus.pro in Group C after a 16-3 victory over Cursive.
The former myDGB.net, winners of the Finnish qualifier, had been expected to give a good account of themselves at this event, but just days before the tournament it was announced that they would be playing with two new players, one of them being a stand-in.
Such a move greatly hindered Cursive's chances of success at DreamHack Summer, with their first match on Swedish soil being against Polish heavyweights ESC Gaming, who are desperate to get back on their feet after a couple of mixed results.
ESC, who started out on the Terrorist side, came out the brighter and picked up the first three rounds of the match, which was played on de_mirage_go. Cursive then tried to respond, but ESC were far too hot to handle, despite Aleksi "allu" Jalli trying his best to stop the Polish team's tactics with his AWP.
At half-time, the scoreboard showed 12-3 in favour of ESC, who then denied Cursive's pistol A rush to add one more round to their tally. With the money advantage, the 2011 WCG winners controlled the game and won the next three rounds to pick up a 16-3 victory.
Elsewhere, LDLC.com continuer their fine run of form and disposed of Team ALTERNATE with a 16-1 scoreline on de_inferno after a dream first half in which they picked up a 14-1 lead. The French side will now contest the top spot in Group D with Lemondogs.
