VG survive fnatic, proceed to final

VeryGames stepped up in the first semi-final against fnatic, winning the series 2-0 (21-17 on de_dust2_se, 16-11 on de_mirage_ce) and securing a spot in the grand final.

Coming into one of the more even maps, VeryGames had a solid start thanks to Adil "ScreaM" Benrlitom's pistol handing while his team was retaking the A bombsite in an afterplant situation.

A planted bomb helped fnatic on a comfortable round three buy, where a quick B split after getting an early kill paid off. With VeryGames being afraid of a the same strategy, fnatic were allowed to push long a few rounds in a row, only having Richard "shoxie" Papillon standing in the way.

At 7-4, the B split strategy from fnatic ran right into the defense of VeryGames, as well as the round after that in spite of Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth's attempts in the B bombsite. Two more rounds afterwards, VeryGames managed to win the first half by the skin of their teeth thanks to the aim of Benrlitom and Papillon.

One round after another kept going into the hands of fnatic after a perfect pistol, including a ninja defuse by Andreas "MODDII" Fridh after planting the bomb wrongly by VeryGames.

Xyp9x's great display on both maps was not enough

The Frenchmen were down 10-15 when it seemed they finally figured out the defense of fnatic and attacked B bombsite. Close rounds going in the way of VeryGames guaranteed fnatic wounding up saving weapons twice in the remaining rounds. The very last one saw VeryGames picking off the fnatic one by one and the match went into an overtime.

In the opening round, Droolans sticked to the strategy from the last couple of rounds and sent his team rushing into B bombsite to retake the lead. Following actions were not executed as planned though, as two A bombsite attacks did not work out, until in the last round securing B once again helped them make the overtime score 3-2.

The second half of the overtime saw Papillon and Edouard "SmithZz" Dubourdeaux pushing up mid with two AWPs, which was met with as a complete surprise by fnatic in the end of the overtime, which they lost 6-2, making the map score 21-17.

ScreaM's dueling skills helped VeryGames take the first map

After switching the map to de_mirage_ce, VeryGames once again took the early lead as Terrorists thanks to a missing defuse kit on Fridh in the pistol round. Fnatic managed to reply strongly in the gunrounds though, making the score 4-3.

Only a couple of unlikely clutch situations by Droolans and Papillon while defending the retake of A bombsite went into the hands of VeryGames. Fnatic did not fall for any of the fakes with Højsleth defending B single-handedly.

Coming into the second pistol round after being down 5-10, VeryGames with Papillon up front crushed every fnatic's attempt to attack both sites, even though Højsleth once again had a chance in a 1v3 situation.

When it seemed fnatic would finally step up, Nathan "NBK" Schmitt threw the chance back in their faces after picking up an ace on the A bombsite defense. Even though the next round finally went into their hands, a duel won by Papillon once again made sure the scoreline was 14-11.

In what was basically the deciding round, fnatic went for a slope push, but it was Papillon's sneaky play inside the A bombsite that secured a map point for his team. Everything was settled when fnatic had to buy only Galils or P250s in the final round, making the de_mirage_ce score 16-11.

They had a good game. Not sure if they would repeat this in every tournament. Especially with friis missing his awp shots and kingbob running out of strats.

No real emotions in GO since its much harder to define great plays than in real Counter-Strike.

Fnatic+ 1. Xyp9x asusual played very well. 2. Traceff was better than his usual. 3. MODDII is usual did his job. 4. Karrigan had a good awp in d2. Fnatic- 1. Friis missed too many awp shots. 2. Kingb0b is not fragging and ran out of strats. Had friis hit his shots at d2 Bombsite during the retake or @mid and ledge in mirage the result could be different.

he won 3-4 rounds for fnatic, but yeah overall he missed too many shots. As i said he is unstable, when he will find his game (dunno when it happens though) he will destroy with awp as it was in 1.6 .

The score line doesn't show the fight the fnatic put. expected is a lame word to describe what just happened.

To me the fail part was, somewhere during 25-30 rounds at d2 they were buying where smithzz was watching mid. VG rushed B and took the site. The least fnatic could do was smoke DD. also fnatic does n't smoke mid too often as CT.

Agree, mostly annoying me because of dreamteam. But still, just so weird how a team can win 2-0, and one player is in the positive and that's just +9 I just feel like when you win 2-0 that you have at least 2 players in the plus. But yeah a great example for people who are statsaholics
