EC 2013 groups drawn

After two rounds of qualifications which brought another twelve teams to the next stage, the 24 participants of European Championship 2013 have now been drawn into four groups.

Last week saw qualification round two end with twelve winners, including Spain, Norway, Turkey, Netherlands, Serbia and more entering the group stage as non-seeded teams.

They joined the originally seeded twelve containing the likes of Sweden, France Denmark and other countries whose players and teams left a significant mark in the first year of CS:GO.

The organizers drew three teams from both the seeded and non-seeded pools into four groups of six:

United Kingdom	Finland	Denmark	France
Sweden	Poland	Belgium	Germany
Portugal	Russia	Slovakia	Ukraine
Norway	Spain	Turkey	Switzerland
Netherlands	Bosnia & Herzegovina	Hungary	Italy
Serbia	Czech Republic	Latvia	Kazakhstan

Matches in the group stage will be played in best-of-one mode until the end of October, after which the top four sides will move on to the playoffs which will use single elimination best-of-three mode. The preliminary schedule based on which the teams should play their matches can be found here.

Same as the previous two times, E-Frag.net recorded and posted the video of the draw for full transparency.

No Nico didnt retire from gaming. Hes playing shitloads of LoL - He retired from the pro CS:GO scene. Dunno if device retired, but he is the captain. I havent read any rules, but isnt he suppose to play?

Nico retired from pro scene, so he won't play in EC. Device retired too, so he won't be playing in EC either. The best possible replacements from current Denmark's EC line-up are Inzta, Pimp and coloN, so most likely they will play instead of those two (device and Nico). That's why i mentioned them above. Got it now?

is this normal procedure the top 4 teams proceeding and the group sizes? I thought top 3 rather then top 4 go thru to single elim. Cause it makes a number of groups pretty stale, group a and group b almost already decided, whereas if it was top 3 then those groups would become way more interesting.
