Copenhagen Wolves beat fnatic 16-11 on de_mirage, and will meet Ninjas in Pyjamas in the semifinals at 17:30 in the second semifinal.
For the first time the much boycotted de_mirage was played in ESL TV's studio as a decider who goes through to semifinals to meet Ninjas in Pyjamas and a DreamHack Winter spot.
The first pistol round saw Copenhagen Wolves rush slope as Terrorists, which was dealt with by fnatic quickly and with another third-round buy, the Swedes were up 4-0.
When it seemed the Danes had a chance of the first entry to the game, Andreas "MODDII" Fridh's triple turned it around on the B bombsite to make it 6-0 after yet another retake.
Opening frags in the next few rounds finally helped copenhagen get back into the match and with an exchanged round, the score was sitting at 7-3.
MODDII's performance was key from the beginning
The next two rounds saw Copenhagen going slow B bombsite push and an A fake which both paid off, and with fnatic having to save twice in a row, they had to go on eco at 7-6.
Andreas "schneider" Lindberg's four frags in mid pushed fnatic to a 8-6 lead, although Fridh's one-versus-two in the final round was not enough as he wasn't able to defuse in time.
After Copenhagen Wolves won the pistol thanks to Jacob "Pimp" Winneche's one-versus-two, Jesper "jw" Wecksell replied with three P250 frags. The same buy from Copenhagen Wolves was a similar situation and Copenhagen took a lead.
When Michael "Friis" Jørgensen's seven frags and a flank by Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth in the next three rounds pushed the Wolves to 13-8, fnatic could only reply by taking three of the next four rounds.
That was all that was left for fnatic as the Danes took both of the remaining rounds to win 16-11, which means they will meet Ninjas in Pyjamas in the semifinals at around 17:30 .
