FACEIT addresses qualifier issues

FACEIT has issued a statement to address the issues regarding the online qualifier for DreamHack Winter.

The tournament was initially scheduled to start at 17:00 , but network issues with FACEIT's website made it impossible for teams to check in.

The qualifier's organisers have now explained that the problems were caused by a "sudden and unnatural rise in external traffic" with one of FACEIT's cloud providers, which went down unexpectedly.

"FACEIT would like to give all the teams who were ready to play CS:GO in DreamHack Winter's online qualifier tonight our deepest apologies for all issues," a FACEIT statement read.

"We will continue to work on our platform to ensure this will not happen again."

All 128 teams who had signed up will still be able to take part in the qualifier, but the tournament will be played out on Tuesday, starting at 18:00 .

FACEIT explains that, while a two-day schedule would be preferable, the qualifier will have to end on Tuesday so that it does not fall on the same dates as other tournaments.

The winners of the two semi-final matches will automatically qualify for DreamHack Winter's CS:GO tournament, which will feature a whopping $250,000 prize purse.

Below you can find the updated schedule of the qualifier:

15:00 Check-in opens
18:00 Check-in closes
18:00 Round of 128 (Best-of-one)
19:00 Round of 64 (Best-of-one)
20:00 Round of 32 (Best-of-one)
21:00 Round of 16 (Best-of-one)
22:00 Quarter-finals (Best-of-one)
23:00 Semi-finals (Best-of-three)

Hahaha is this a joke, rly?? Like there will be no further delays..I think you can take that Semi-finals BO3 23.00 CET and scoop it in maybe 1 or maybe 1 1/2 hour later. Another thing is that we can't even play Tuesday cuz of people got work that night. If it was played to day (something it was used to) we could have played it, sad :(

And you are being pissed about having to play Today, when in fact if you were going to play the cup you would originally have had to play today regardless of the changes unless you expected to be beaten out at day one LOL.

The semifinals werent supposed to be played at 23:00 :) And no I am not pissed of all I know that you don't like me at all for some rare reason, so discussing with you are indeed LOL. The only reason you are replaying to me is because you want to start a discussion, like everytime I write something. Just stop being a kiddo. I only say that we could have played everything that was supposed to be played YESTERDAY, yesterday and that we couldn't play ANYTHING today because ppl got work. Was that so hard to understand? You know you have to play the first rounds to qualify to the next ;)

They just went full retard.. NEVER GO FULL RETARD. They have amazing platform when it works & they are very dedicated, but the way how they handled this was.. Bad. Super bad. Now they force teams to play 8h (with delays), most of the UK teams cant play because it starts so early :/ should start it later & play quarter+semis on sunday or so.

This is poor. basically screwed anyone who works 9 til 5 etc. IMO lots of teams will have problems with this schedule. Also expecting all teams to play all their games over one evening is so unrealistic. The schedule doesn't allow for breaks which is idiotic because there is going to have to be breaks. You cannot expect people to sit continuously for hours without any form of break. that schedule will not last. Poor foresight by FaceIt and really putting a lot of people at a disadvantage. Definitely agree with people saying it should be held over two days. GG

Sigh... I suppose their reasoning for trying to stuff the whole qualifier into one day is that they don't want it to be too close to the tournament, but this schedule simply does not work for a lot of teams that want to participate. Hope they work things out, and if not, good luck to everyone still able to participate.

"FACEIT no longer features EAC as our main anti-cheat tool. From now on we will be using VAC, which has significantly improved over the last releases. Next to this we believe that the demos on each users’ profile will create a natural eco-system for players to report cheaters. We will have a hardline policy on cheaters, meaning that players can report a cheater and demos will be manually analyzed by our admin team." GG HF, VAC is GREAT! you can see it on matchmaking. Have fun and dont lose your brains on those trigger, radar, esp etc users :D

Ops :D Wasnt actually in my mind to reply to you, had a missclick ;/ But u can test ur skill on praccs so why playing a qualifier ? Imagine, someone has won and is not even gonna attend DH while an other team which unfortunatelly lost to some unknowns are gonna miss the tournament just because some guys wanted to test their skill on the internet.

you cant really test your skill in pracc, pracc is to test out new strats/playing style to see what Works best vs different teams/playingstyle. i dont think a random team will win, but if one does there should be somekind og "punishment" if they dont go.

Cant understand why all are that excited to play the qualifier. 98,96% of the teams are not gonna attend DH even if they would have won the Qual. So why screw up the schedule ? Just invite 8-12 possible attenders and have a few decent matches and not over50000 matches with mostly some unknown bots.

I don't know in which world faceit people live. In a world full of students and workless people which can afford that time? Its just ridiclious. I mean 18 CET? some people gotta work till 19 or got to get home from work and can't get earlier at home. And then the biggest problem is, you can only choose 5 Players of a team to play that Cup. We could play the Cup pretty easily with a ringer, in the first round, because one of us gotta work till 19 CET. But because of this shit faceit, we can't participate. That just sucks. And then the page? ITS 15:05 CET and the page is still offline.... cmon FACE-IT, don't be such troll

Your site is a huge mess of javascript and each part automatically sends requests to your server every few seconds, if you can't handle the teams logging in today then how are you planning to do that next week? And why can't you do a temporary solution with a static webpage which actually has a chance of working?

What a fucking joke this is. What about teams planning to attend the BYOC if they don't make it trough the online qualifier? They will barely have any "wiggling" room in terms of being able to buy BYOC tickets and book flights and hotel for the correct time WITHIN time (Flights gets more expensive the closer to the date), because BYOC attendants have to get there one day earlier than everyone else. What is this???

The schedule is as followed (times in CET): Tuesday 19 November - 16:00 Check-in opens - 20:00 Check-in closes - 20:00 Round of 128 - 21:00 Round of 64 - 22:00 Round of 32 Wednesday 20 November - 19:00 Round of 16 - 20:00 Quarterfinals - 21:00 Semifinals - 23:00 Final We would also like to urge the players who are running scripts to check-in to our system to stop. It is only overloading our systems and won't help anyone. Teams which continue will risk a ban from the tournament and FACEIT. source: steamcommunity.com/groups/FACEITcom#anno..

15:54 - [R]eason MSL: What was the reason for moving a week? 15:54 - [R]eason MSL: I cant see it 15:55 - nvm: Mainly for two reasons 1. We got a ton of rage about doing it over one single day and starting early (e.g. British teams) 15:56 - nvm: 2. at the moment while the service provider is back up, if the scripts that are running do not stop we cant block them 15:56 - nvm: we are working on the seocnd one 15:56 - crell <3 K: so use binarybeast 15:56 - crell <3 K: or setup a temporary site 15:56 - crell <3 K: to run the tourney

If this nvm guy really is from Faceit, he must understand that its impossble to please everyone when you arrange the qualifier in the middle of the week. Whats worst - ppl in London playing their first game at 17.00, or ppl in Moscow playing their last at 01.00?

What a fucking joke this is. What about teams planning to attend the BYOC if they don't make it trough the online qualifier? They will barely have any "wiggling" room in terms of being able to buy BYOC tickets and book flights and hotel for the correct time WITHIN time (Flights gets more expensive the closer to the date), because BYOC attendants have to get there one day earlier than everyone else. What is this?

this is horrible. I like FACEIT because they contritube a lot to the CS:GO-scene, but this is retarded. First you skip a day and then you change the dates by a whole fucking week?
