FACEIT addresses qualifier issues
FACEIT has issued a statement to address the issues regarding the online qualifier for DreamHack Winter.
The tournament was initially scheduled to start at 17:00 , but network issues with FACEIT's website made it impossible for teams to check in.
The qualifier's organisers have now explained that the problems were caused by a "sudden and unnatural rise in external traffic" with one of FACEIT's cloud providers, which went down unexpectedly.
"FACEIT would like to give all the teams who were ready to play CS:GO in DreamHack Winter's online qualifier tonight our deepest apologies for all issues," a FACEIT statement read.
"We will continue to work on our platform to ensure this will not happen again."
All 128 teams who had signed up will still be able to take part in the qualifier, but the tournament will be played out on Tuesday, starting at 18:00 .
FACEIT explains that, while a two-day schedule would be preferable, the qualifier will have to end on Tuesday so that it does not fall on the same dates as other tournaments.
The winners of the two semi-final matches will automatically qualify for DreamHack Winter's CS:GO tournament, which will feature a whopping $250,000 prize purse.
Below you can find the updated schedule of the qualifier:
