EMS One Katowice casters

The Electronic Sports League has announced the names of the casters for EMS One Katowice next week.

Starting on Thursday and ending on Sunday, EMS One Katowice will gather 16 teams from all over the world, who will be battling it out for money and glory in this $250,000 tournament.

The whole show will be hosted by Sean Charles, with three commentators casting the game: Lauren "Pansy" Scott, Jason Kaplan and Stuart "TosspoT" Saw.

Canadian player Joshua "steel" Nissan keeps his position as observer, while Scott "SirScoots" Smith and Duncan "Thorin" Shields will provide insight into the tournament as analysts.

"I'm thrilled that we have secured such an amazing lineup of talent and I am confident that collectively the team will bring an amazing weekend of CS:GO action to the viewers at home and at the venue in the best way they can," ESL's head of commentary, Paul "ReDeYe" Chaloner, said.

"We've got a real mix of youth and experience with SirScoots and Thorin performing similar roles to those at DreamHack alongside our host Sean Charles, who returns after a successful stint hosting the EMS One in 2013.

"We also have one of the most experienced commentators in the business - Stuart Saw - returning to an ESL event to complement our regular EMS One pairing of Lauren and Jason. I'm also thrilled that we have secured the services of Joshua "steel" Nissan to observe the entire tournament. The role he performs should not be underestimated - he never misses a frag!

"The stickers are in place, the drops are about to happen and the games are almost here. This is going to be an amazing tournament presented by an amazing team of people - GL HF!"

they chose pansy because she is ESL staff and has previously casted CSGO events. though i like pansy, im not sure why they didn't just use redeye instead. hes also ESL staff, he's much more experienced, much more knowledgeable about the game, and imo more entertaining to listen to because of that. or if they couldn't use redeye i would just use anders :D

Find someone that's studied not just the game but the players for the last decade like him and that knows more info to spew than him. He's probably the best analyst when comparing to your other options (are there even other options?).

The only thing he does is give not so relevant 1.6 analogies to GO. It's clear he has no idea about the GO scene and is often wrong about it. I enjoy the guy behind the camera with his interviews but he isn't that good as an analyst/caster.

How? When NiP had lost 3-4 online games already and a LAN, Thorin still said "NiP is still unbeaten". He acts as if he constantly follows the scene but its definitely not true. This is very basic knowledge. I was actually talking about him criticizing progamer's their play even though they know much better what they should do than Thorin. In most situations i felt the players were doing the right thing (and I've been playing cs for a long long time). Im pretty sure Thorin doesn't have any experience playing csgo at a top level, still he thinks he knows more about the game than the players who do play at a top level.

Actually most ppl say he's some kind of cocky and I don't have that kind of impression. He was definitely a reliable source of good information for 1.6 and I think he definitely still is in GO, he apparently follows the scene less, so naturally he won't always be right with his conclusions and stuff, but cs hasn't changed much, imo, he's still a really good 'analyst' or sth like that, good example was the game between nip and titan on DHinv when ppl were saying how close it was and Thorin actually accurately stated that the match was never really close despite the overtime and stuff and Titan was always ahead and had it in the back. He's a really bright guy, maybe a little too much sometimes, but still.

Just because it turns out another way than he predicted doesn't mean his prediction is wrong you know. He can say there's a 70% chance that this team will win, that doesn't mean they WILL win this match, just that 7/10 times he believes they should win, he's way of analyzing is very mathematical with percentage chance of soemthing to happen.

He makes a lot of incorrext statements which clearly show that he has never played cs at a top level. He doesn't know most of the things one learns when being immensely good at the game. Still he thinks its ok to say progamers are doing wrong things while he actually doesnt understand what theyre doing. He does however act as if he knows everything. Apart from that, I really dislike the fact that hes super unprofessional wearing sports jerseys to huge CS:GO events. eSports is still underrated and doesn't yet have the respect it deserves, seeing an expert talk about the game while wearing a joggings suit doesn't really help. Another thing I don't like is that he's talking about players personally in a negative or irrelevant way.

I disagree, I feel that he rarely will touch upon a players individual performance, but rather touch upon the strategy, like: "this guy shouldn't peeked here because it ruined the set-up since the terrorists now knows they're coming banana." This is NOT something you need to have played on a pro lvl to understand, there's a reason few coaches in many traditional sports wasn't pros at the sport before they became coaches, they are people who understand the game from a tactical and meta stand point, Thorin is the same way. This is something you see other commentators in other games have, MonteCristo has never played LoL on a pro lvl, BUT he's the most respected analytical caster and a coach of a top 3 american team, because he knows the games strategical element better than anyone else. Thorin is the same way, he can analyze a situation and tell you quite accurately what percentage chance a team has if they run this specific tactic, what the percentage are in this specific situation and he can tell you how they should go in to the situation and what they should strive to achieve with their grenades. But I have never heard him say anything like, "in this 1v1 Neo moved incorrectly, his strafing was off and he moved his hand clockwise while spraying were he would've hit 4 more bullets had he moved counter-clockwise" never ever have I heard him talk about stuff like this, because he simply doesn't know this, unless it's an article like the one he did on Trace were he points out a player tendencies over a career that he has studied.

You make some valid points, but you're thinking about different situations than I am. The best situation I can remember was when a player was going to save in a 1v3. First of all Thorin still thought the player was going for it (while the player obviously wasn't), then he started criticizing for the going to save because the enemies were low hp (which the player couldn't know) and then he even criticized the spot where the player tried to save (which actually got him to save his gun). I'm not talking about analytic basics here Anders, everyone with a little knowledge can do that. I've seen multiple occasions where he says players are doing stupid things while they're doing the right thing.

Maybe you're right, maybe not, I don't think we're going to agree on him, personally I'm a big "fan" of him and I think he's a very smart person who has a lot of great things to say and definitely is an expert but more importantly he's not afraid to say what he thinks no bullshit something few people in this industry does. During the game he said the following: "I have the feeling pronax is intimidated by me, everytime I walk past him (or see him can't remember) he only smiles at me. His smile does make my day though. Why the fuck is this relevant to what's happening in-game? And why does he feel the need to tell all the thousands of viewers a player is intimidated by him (while he doesn't even know for sure?)

TBH it is, sure the casters are great imo. but there is a severe lack of game knowledge at the casting desk with pure pbp-casters and not a single colour/analytical caster, sure we have Thorin and Scoots to break down the main turning points in every game, but we will still lack the quick analysis of each round which there in no way will be time for the analysis desk to do.

So disappointing. First when I heard ESL is going to host a major tournament I thought awesome, they are amazing at hosting a tournament and streaming with super casters in redeye and joemiller. Now we are stuck with pretty much worst "pro casters". The only good thing is that tosspot is there.

The casting lineup is fine. Thorin always does an excellent job in the expert role as opposed to actual live match casting. He knows more about the Euro teams and players than anyone else really. Also SirScoots did great with him at DHW. As far as the live match casters go, Tosspot did fine at DHW and Pansy has been casting CSGO for a long time now and does fine with play by play. Also Jkap has done pretty well for being newer to casting CSGO. I swear some of you are not satisfied unless Anders is casting every single match. Yes Anders is amazing and one of the best in the scene, but despite what you may think, there are other capable commentators out there. Due to the fact things didn't work out on hiring Anders for this event, this is a solid lineup of casters outside Anders. Even with Anders out of the discussion these are good commentators. For those saying this event is not worth watching now, you are delusional. Carry on.

Allow sl4m to stream. 20k viewers MINIMUM (low?). Are u ** kidding esl? Or maybe u dont want to get more viewers. Not all russian viewers will watch english stream, and the reason is not only "the dont speak unglis", starladder got a lot of subscribers from dota, that will open stream due to subscriber "live alert" (over 30-40k viewers were watching previous lan tournament, where werent dota). With dota at the same tournament day it was over 100k. Still low? So, it wont be more, because to increase russian community watching cs streams we need RUSSIAN (professional) streams (i guess over 60% of viewers dont speak english, more then half of them will not open the english stream cause they understand NOTHING), not ONLY english. I understand you want as most viewers to the main stream as possible, but with english and russian stream separately it will be more (actually with starladder casters). So, why we need RUSSIAN stream? Because Russian community is the second biggest community (Russia, Ukraine, Belorussia etc. etc. etc.). Think about it ESL, we need to PROMOTE cs go to people (who playing dota and other games) in all countries, not only english-speaking. WE NEED SL4M!

Also, what we have if Sl4m will stream (officially)? - over 20k viewers (cause of starladder popularity and single russian stream) - esl and cs go promotion in CIS (more people will see big cs go tournament -> more players/people that interesting in cs, cause of dota players etc. etc. etc.) - quality stream from SLTV studio (as we see their biggest CIS tourny).
