ESWC Finals At NVISION

Electronic Sports World Cup has announced detailed information for the 2008 Grand Finals.

The grand finals have always been taking place in Paris, France. But this year, ESWC move the grand finals to the United States. ESWC 2008 will take place from 25th-27th of August in sunny San Jose, California. The event will take place during NVISION 2008, an event designed and hosted by NVIDIA, ESWCs new main partner. NVISION 2008 will feature much more than just ESWC. Dedicated for virtual graphics, the event will also feature a BYOC LAN Party and the iGames Expo.

Notable would be, that the finals will take place only one day after Games Convention 2008, where ESL will have their finals for ENC, same goes for NGL-One, though without Counter-Strike being played. Furthermore will the yearly eSports Awards take place during Games Convention. Could this course problem for players and teams wanting to attend both events? ESWC has been struck by bad schedules before, as CPL Summer 2005 was scheduled on the exact same date as ESWC finals.

Never the less, both events will not be changing their time or location. Players and teams can be forced to go directly from Leipzig to San Jose, in order to attend both events.

ESWC has released a trailer for their upcoming 2008 season. Download it here, or watch it below.

Sigh, the scheduling mess again, with the limited amount of events we have, it should be possible to do this properly, it is just sad that these big events cannot respect each other and plan accordingly..

#1, I think it's great. That way the weaker tournaments either have to increase the prize money significantly, market their event better, add new games or simply move their schedule to another date. ESWC is the biggest and most prestigious tournament at the moment, so I think they have the right to have a higher priority to gamers than other events.

One of the two would end up sucking so bad, just like ESWC and CPL Summer 06, and eventually one of the two will have to cancel or close down etc.

Omg! USA... That might sound great, but think of the timezone. When it 8 p.m. in CET its only 2 p.m. in america (Eastern time) which means the finals (which are normally in the evening) will be played at about 3 a.m. if not later or earlier in CET. Good luck at you boys covering the event^^

Common this is ESWC not WCG or CB NC (My tip for final: Vatican vs. hltv.org). There´ll surely be a final worth watching.

Well the vatican is the only state which players can´t use silentwalk (they´re to old to tab more than one key at the same time) The pope sucks at CS but he´s a Dead-or-Alive Pro. Rumours say that he´ll join CGS soon.
