FMPONE, Volcano talk crown changes

Shawn "FMPONE" Snelling and Sal "Volcano" Garozzo have discussed the latest changes to de_crown in the third and last part of the "Building Crown" article.

Last month, the two map designers released on the Steam Workshop their latest creation, called de_crown, a new map that they hoped would become a landmark in competitive gaming.

Over the last few weeks, Snelling and Garozzo have received feedback from the community about de_crown and made several adjustements to make it more appealing to casual and competitive players alike.

New pathway from middle to CT courtyard

For example, a trick jump is now possible on the B bombsite, making it possible to go from lower B to upper B in a matter of seconds. In order to reduce the rotation times, a new path which goes from the middle area to the CT courtyard has been created.

Fuck no. Terrible comp map. Great pub/pug/gather map, don't get me wrong. DaZeD outlined like all its problems somewhere but i cbf to find it. And if DaZeD gave me good reason (on top of my own personal reasons) as to why the map is bad then, that's all I need.

Agreed, maybe because of the use of colours. Grey = Dull Map-wise I don't like the door to enter from above to bombsite.

yep it's to dull. Nothing about the map speaks to me. It's just to big. There are no interesting hallways/rooms etc just a bunch of large open corridors(is the feel i get)

coming from a guy who actually played this map, it was the first map I played for the first time without feeling lost, it does seem to be very balanced for all types of gameplay, despite seeming to be a rush oriented map. Definitly has the potential to become what FMPONE and Volcano want.. don't think it will top dust2 in terms of competetiveness, but who knows.. keep up the good work

Interesting, I wrote on reddit after release of this map that there need to be some path on the mid and guess what I got downvoted to hell. Only expressed my opinion about the map nothing else, just pros and cons. And now we will see the new "pathway" from mid to CT, just great. I'm really open to test it out again. Good job makers.

Nice changes, it should really make the map more viable. However it's not yet available on the workshop it seems.

Looks really nice, will surely check it out. I hope it'll get the support it needs/deserves. There's alot of bitching on how there aren't enough good maps in the map pool, while there's an very small effort to actually be open minded and do anything about it.

Changes made are definitely good improvements. Still needs a real mid imo though.

Could HLTV set up some show matches between some good teams on this map? I've yet to see good teams play it.

That would be very entertaining and a good idea. +1 And great for the development of the map and if the pros give feedback (especially if teams like Titan, VP, NiP, etc. do it), it would be great for mappers.
