What is going on?
14-2-2008 18:46
Yesterday all our servers went offline, for reason unknown to us. We were given no warning or indication of any problems. We later learned they had been taken down intentionally. The reason for this is still unclear, but what is clear is that none of our 10 servers are responding. Therefore we scrambled to move the page to a new server, restoring it from our backups. This however means that the database is from the 13th, at 7:00 am CET, meaning all activity on the site from 07:00 to around 15:00 is lost.
Since we store more than a terabyte of demos on our servers, there were no backup of these, so all demo downloading is suspended until we get our machines back from Norway so we can fetch them from there. We want to stress that no data is lost, our machines are just offline, nothing more, meaning all will be restored as soon as we get them.
Since all our machines are offline, we cannot currently offer booking, we will however be hosting some HLTV slots for the big matches, so make sure still to keep an eye on the ip page.
All of this should hopefully be over within a few days, we are confident that by this time next week everything will be running back at 100% power.
We of course apologize for the inconvenience, and hope you will bear with us while we get back up on our feet.
So make no mistake, HLTV.org will be back as strong as ever very soon, we have our own hardware, and money to buy hosting, so there is no risk that we might close.
