FACEIT & LDLC react to match issue

This evening's clash between Virtus.pro and LDLC ended up being plagued by DDoS issues for the French players, which eventually culminated in an incident that saw LDLC receive and use more money than they should have had. FACEIT and LDLC have released their statements on the matter, indicating the possibility of a rematch.

FACEIT Spring League 2014 match between Virtus.pro and LDLC was interrupted six times with DDoSing of several players from the French team.

After one of those incidents and restoring the match to the score 14-14, LDLC's Hovik "KQLY" Tovmassian who had just reconnected received more money than he should have, using it to buy weapons for his teammates. The teams continued playing the match with LDLC eventually winning 16-14.

KQLY & co.'s DDoS troubles led to more issues in the match against Virtus

Virtus.pro brought up the issue to the organizers afterwards, and now FACEIT came out with the following statement that explained that the money bug occured due to a mod on the server:

"Dear community,

The FACEIT admin team is aware of the issue where KQLY of Team-LDLC got disconnected from the match against Virtus Pro in the FACEIT CS:GO Spring League Day 4. He disconnected with around 3,500 money, and once he returned he had around 10,500. We are currently investigating the story from both sides, analyzing demos and gathering further information which could help us.

Team-LDLC is not directly responsible for the cause of the bug, as it was an error caused by the mod we use for our servers. This was caused due to all the pauses, disconnects, restarts and other server commands issued due to the DDOS attacks on several Team-LDLC players and disconnects by both teams. It was a harsh situation caused by outside sources, not by the teams.

I want to express that we are looking into this seriously, so we are taking our time to take an educated decision which is most fair for both teams.

LDLC's Dan "apEX" Madesclaire also offered his comment on the matter, stating that the team is ready to replay the match if needed:

"We are ok with any decision, whether to replay the match or to go back to X-X ! We want to play the match without any troubles. We will protect ourselves against the DDOS in the upcoming days. We are good friends with Virtus.pro and it's unfortunate to be in this kind of situation with them."

According to FACEIT the final decision on the matter will be announced tomorrow.

Indeed, his whole team must`ve known about this. Its the whole of LDLC that should be punished. I hope they get suspended from this tournament. This happens so often that the bot fucks up, but you either call an admin or tell the other team and throw away the guns in spawn until youve reached the money you should have and nobody picks them up. This is pretty common and every pro team should be able to handle this situation without being tempted. Low blow on LDLCs part.

Why is it naive? It is his responsibility to tell the admins, because it happened to him, his first reaction should've been: "Hey admins, i got 7k too much". I agree, he isnt the only to blame, obviously, since we dont know if his teammates encouraged him to drop or not but either way, KQLY is 100% guilty. But for others, think of it like this, KQLY is on his bankaccount (WHILE STREAMING), someone randomly drops like 100k into his account, he immideatly tells his friends about it (AND HIS ENTIER STREAM), his friends encourage him to share the money with them since whats the harm, he didnt earn that money so why not share? So he decides to share the money with his friends, instead of reporting it. Well both teams couldve done better here i mean i was watching a NA match between iBP and Mythic and when one of the iBP players got ddosed and couldnt join Mythic removed one of their players and played 4v4, we need more sportsmanship and better attitude not getting mad at the other team because they are getting ddosed

If LDLC cannot protect themselves from DDoS, who are you going to blame? Of course the DDoSer but also the team that couldn't protect themselves from DDoS. If every match has to be rescheduled because you get DDoSd you would save the team getting DDoSd because they were careless but you would penalize the team that was ready to play. The worst part is, if it was Neo or Pasha who got DDoSed and reconnected with more cash, all the fanboys would be raging at LDLC for crying and calling them default hunters. If you have been playing for 3 hours, frustrated with DDoS and your team is low on cash for eco at match point, 99% of people will just roll with the money they join server with. Could not be bothered to watch game, but if he ever died from DDoS lag during game, then fair's fair.

He started with the round with 3450. Spent 3350 on AK + kevlar. Got 2 kills and picked up a flash before dying. His team got the bomb down but lost the round (3rd in a row). Add it up. 3450 + 3350 + 600(kills) + 200 (flashbang) + 800(PB) + 2400(3rd loss in a row) and you get 10800.

What a nice bunch of completely baised idiots here, I'm sure most, if not all, of you would have done the same thing if you were in KQLY's position. Yes, what he did was wrong, think about it from a psychological point of view: litterally the whole team got DDOS'd, match went from about 1h30 to 3h00, like taz said mid-game "there are other priorities" and there are plenty of other factors that contributed to that. Now, this is completely blown out of proportions and to a highly ridiculous level, both teams are already qualified and what not, so please: what the fuck?

i didn't watch a game, but solution is simple. If round before was "force buy" for LDLC and they lost the round even they downed the bomb, then after rejoining all LDLC members should have known that no one of them would have 10k money. This is PRO gaming and there is no need to lie that u forgot how u lost force buy round before 15, 30 or 45 mins and etc... And before joining team should know that it will be an eco round for them or at max it will be forced buy again... PRO gaming can be compared to real life situations... Let's pretend that your arm has been broken. I bet u will remember and feel that it is broken even after 1 hour, 5 days and so on. No need to pretend that this game was just a simple MM :) So LDLC clearly knew that they abused some sort of a bug and too bad for them that there were like 30k viewers to notice what they did :D

The fault lies with FACEIT who let's a team pause as they please and let e bo1 take 2+ hours.. 15 minutes to pause the game should be the absolute maximum, if he keeps getting ddos'd its very unlucky but the game should continue without '.stop' every time they lose a round or need money

I still try to imagine you guys spending less moneys then you have to, while being 14-14 against VP. Oh, and dont forget not to spend the bonus money if you win the round! Remember, you need to have at least "around" 7k left for the rest of the game. Of course, you can talk to admins, while being in-game, after 5 interruptions, ~1h after you should have finished the game already. But, from what I understand, there is a mod on the server to keep track of that, but whatever, KQLY - you bad boy! Anyways, There was a bug, VP brought up the issue, FACEIT are investigating the cause, LDLC will accept the league's statement. As for me, it's pure professionalism. What do you want more from them? Your skins or what?

Look at all the football players pretending they were fouled. It's not nice in the ethical way, but it's the part of the game. As someone already stated - play until the whistle blows. Most teams (except Wizards) have used them. Should ignore CSGL and all matches from our side. They are there for us, this is a disgrace!

it wasn't their fault that they got the money - fact, but it was their fault that they used that money knowing how much of a difference it makes.
