Mobility seek funds to attend ESWC*

After making it out of the North American qualifier, Mobility-Gaming are now seeking funding to attend this year's ESWC in Paris, France.

The winners of ESEA Intermediate season 16 qualified in second place, beating out fellow Canadian side abunch, before narrowly losing to iBUYPOWER who, for their efforts, were rewarded with a fully-funded trip to the finals.

In order to fulfil their goal of becoming an international team, Mobility are now seeking funding from fans and supporters to cover the expenses associated with competing overseas.

Davey's Mobility are reaching out to the community for support

Their current target is $8,000 USD which you can help them reach by contributing to the team directly, or by purchasing merchandise from Mobility's Pro Shop.

ESWC finals will run from October 29th until November 2nd, and will see the top twenty-four teams from around the world (including China, India, and Japan) competing for the 2014 world title.

Update: MG have set up their own donation page, so you can donate directly to the team. The original story has been updated to reflect this change.

false. potato salad can be sold, if you fund this guys you wont get a single cent in return. thats the difference. they ask for money but cant offer anything in return. what they can offer is some loss in group stage and a flight back home.

Can't they afford hotels? I mean they need don't have to go in 5 stars hotels. Low Costs, costs only maybe 200-300€ for the 3-4 days I find it really expensive and feel like they are asking for way too much. Too easy to ask money from people

Actually the entire trip will cost us about 8000, but our goal is 10000-12000 because we have to pay fees from paypal and indiegogo. Sorry we are not all rich and we need all the help we can get. If you don't want to donate, that's okay, but please you don't have to be rude about it. We will do our best in France, and thank you to everyone who has donated, we appreciate it! It might be cause you benefit from being the only big team in oceania. So all sponsors want to support you. While a team like mobility, probably isnt the hottest topic for sponsors

You should be looking more for sponsors than people who would donate. I'm pretty sure it's kinda not so hard to find good few sponsors who would be interested in representing their brand at ESWC, but the problem is that your team isn't so competitive in international scene. Well at least I think so. Anyway, good luck. :)

Refer to #18. NA has like 4 teams that the sponsors would rather give the money to, before funding a mostly unknown team. Also it can't hurt that your sponsors have the lure of better visibility when traveling for 250K tournaments as compared to traveling for an under 50K tournament. Also, you travel from Australia for events that have a guaranteed cash prize for the last placed team. That ought to help. ESWC only rewards top 3 as far as I remember. Edit : Small Disclaimer. I'm not actually contributing myself.

i can't see this going anywhere without bigger promotions. the tf2 na scene have successfully crowed funded to send their teams to iseries. they streamed and took donations, they created online events for the community and streamed them. i think sitting around and expecting the community to give you money is asking for failure and if you're willing to do some work i'm sure you would ez get the money that's needed. gl!

Here are my thoughts on this: Obviously we always want every team that qualified fairly to be able to attend the event. However from what I see, Mobility Gaming (the organization that the team plays for) is not able to cover the costs of the team. I would be extremely hesitant, to donate money to the organization rather than to the team. It's not even about trust, but standards. If you pick up a team that will be attending ESWC you need to be ready for those costs. Why do they have a bunch of other teams, if they can't afford to send their one team to LANs (I see they had to use their own money from ESEA as well). If the team would leave the organization, and crowd fund that way, I would see much more success with people donating. That being said, best of luck finding the money - I really hope to see you guys at ESWC!

5 flights + 5 day stay in a hostel would be around 7000. Inc food it would be say 7500 for the duration. With Ontario's minimum wage at 11$ you need to work about 682 hours to earn that. 137 hours between the 5 of you. That's 17 8 hour days. So if you all get a job, even a crappy minimum wage one, you'd be able to earn that in less than a month. Why exactly are you asking for money? Work until the end of September and you can easily pay your own way.

ANd ? Work and save money for this event ? what the fuck will they eat? They have bills to pay. The point of this thread is "pay if u want", dont pay if u dont want to. No one is forcing you to do anything.

And considering they already pay for their bills then they already have jobs. About 63 work days until the event. That's more than enough time to earn the money they need. Right now it just comes off as "donate money so we can go on vacation"

Two of them are 20 years old, one is 25, and two have not stated their ages on the team website. You are assuming they all have full-time jobs or are able to find work in time. You have also neglected to take taxes and other costs of living into account. If they do have jobs, they are probably paying at least 20% in taxes, depending on their level of income. If they have jobs, it is also more likely that they are living by themselves or with someone else than their parents. In a big city like Ontario - where the minimum wage is only $11 like you have pointed out - rent is most likely going to be taking a decent amount out of their pay check every month. Then you have things like student loans, mortgages and general life in a big city. To answer your question, I am going to guess it involves something of what I wrote above.

While I agree with your points, I lived in Toronto while I attended university there. I have first hand experience of the cost of living in the city and what is available in terms of student jobs (I'm assuming they are of highschool/uni age). They do have the opportunity to save up this money on their own. It's obviously something they really want to do, but they don't want to spend their own money. If they're not willing to invest in themselves why should anyone else? Again, it seems they just want a paid vacation to Paris.

Ignoring just how astoundingly poorly thought out your "estimate" is, if you don't want to donate then don't. I'm not going to because I don't care. If other people want to then good for them.

the estimate is based on prices i found online + any applicable tax. The biggest problem is that the indiegogo campaign is set to flexible. which means that any money they raise, they get to keep. even if they dont go to eswc. imagine they get to 2/3k. not enough to go to paris, but they wont return the money either. if they had intentions of returning the money in case their goal wasnt reached they wouldnt have fixed flexible as their funding plan.

no offense but you guys are arent popular at all. saw some games but this wasn't above average or smth. so in my opinion we can not expect something great from you guys at this event. and trying to raise 12.000$ for this non profit situation is pointless in my opinion. and i realy love it when i read "we need HOTELS..." haha isn't it funny that working people slept on the floor under the table (10years ago) but now the unemployed people want a hotel room? but yeah, as i said: this should not be offensiv it's just my opinion and opinions are different. i wish you all the best

We're trying to raise $8000, and we will put in a lot of time and effort to compete with the best teams. You guys want Counter-Strike to grow, but when new teams come along and try to gain experience and play, nobody wants to support them. We're a very good team with a lot of potential, we just need to be given the opportunity. Our first lan together, and we qualified for ESWC Finals. I think we can really do well if we get to Paris. Thanks again to everyone who is supporting us.

The Mobility Gaming Management should really consider their branding process. You are seeking sponsors and havent even listed your company information on the website. I think you arent even registered as a company... You stated in your partnership press release that you are 7 years in gaming as an organization. So far it is the first time I've heard from you. Also your whole appearence is very poor. It is true that finding sponsors is very difficult in esports and especially to have a self-sustainable organization, however sponsors are there. Maybe you should hire someone who is experienced with sponsorships, branding, imagebuilding, sales. You have the lucky situation to live at a very health market/economy. You just lag of knowledge. So before you say that I am rude. I am just trying to give some constructive feedback since you guys have potential but only need some key people who can help you evolve from the noob squad to some serious organization. GL

Thank you very much for your advice, we've been trying our best to secure other sponsorships and improve our organization. Mobility Gaming by no means is a large organization like iBUYPOWER or Complexity. It is a small organization run by one person. That is why we are asking for funding from supporters. Hopefully in the future, companies and organizations recognize our potential and will approach us, but for right now, we have to work with Mobility Gaming. They have been very supportive and we appreciate everything Sober (the manager) has done for us.

Would help if they talked some about their plans and preparations. It would be alot easier to support an up and coming team thats really excited over going there and have some sort of shot of doing something (not talking about taking home the whole tourney, but maybe getting out of group stage etc and putting up some nice games). But they need to talk about their plans and how much time they are putting into this for us that dont know about them to want to contribute. Do some sort of player presentation in a videoformat with frags etc. Get us excited over sponsoring your dream!

Mobility Gaming is a small organization. They paid for some travel fee for our 1st lan, they paid our league fees, and gave us mousepads/shirts. But they are not big enough to send us to France so we are asking for help.

Hello. Im going on holiday to canada in sept, can you donate money for this trip? I work but cannot spare any money cuz of bills etc. will you donate? Yea doubtful...people are not mad that u are asking for money (EVERYONE AND ANYONE Can do this) however it is the fact you are given publicity for this donation when you dont deserve to ask for it, especially with the amount. You "achieved" the 2nd NA spot for eswc cuz no1 else turned up (not your fault, you have to beat whats infront of you) but i could have made a team, turned up, lost to IBP and then asked for 10 grand...if u wanted to go and u know ure org cant pay, work overtime, ask parents for money, try anything and everything. Begging should only be a last resort. Maybe if u raised some Money yourself and said we need more people would be more inclined.

All of us are either in school or work full-time. I am in University full time and have a lot of bills to pay. I don't have money to save up for this trip to France. I pay for my car insurance, my school, my phone, and other bills. We are asking the community for help and a lot of people are helping. If you don't want to donate, you don't have to. But you don't have to be disrespectful and call us lazy, and beggars. I never said you HAVE to donate. But there are some nice people who are helping us. If you don't want to help us, it's okay, but you don't have to be mean about it. We are doing everything we can do raise the money for this trip. I don't expect you to understand, but if you love CS:GO like we all do, you will at least support a new team trying to grow instead of criticizing everything. How do you want CS:GO to grow if new teams cannot afford to travel and become better? Please keep your negative comments to yourself. I can promise to whoever donates, we practice for hours everyday and try to get better. We won't disappoint you in France. Thank you so much for everyone who is supporting us, it means a lot!

My recommendation is not to answer obvious trolls that call you beggars and so on. Just ignore them ;) I have donated 10 dollars some hours ago. I will wait some and if it continues to rize I will donate 20 dollars if not even more depending on the mood, haha. This will be a great life experience for you guys if nothing else. Something I wish I had a chance to but naah; life duty calls. So; if I cant and you have a chance; this is my support for you. If you dont win; its okay; make sure you have a story to tell at least :D

Why do you both find 'begging' offensive? It's like it's the politically incorrect version of 'asking for a donation'. This is a beg thread.

Yes we work, but we don't have money saved. We work to pay our bills for phones, cars, homes and school. We are trying very hard to raise money. If we had the money, we would not ask the community for help, but we do not have enough to pay for it. If we do not raise enough money we have to take out loans and borrow money, and we don't want to do that. We are thankful to everyone who has donated so far because it has helped so much!

If maybe a stupid question or solution, but you guys don't want to build a gaming house, because you've 1 house for 5, so you'll get more money etc Another suggestion, did you made a CV about your team and send it to all organisation in gaming ? Searching for sponsor that can give you 1-2k$ etc etc
